about it. The person complained to him that I am selling it for a higher price, and expects me to sell for the exact same price as they do.
I told them to stay out of my business and emailed my supplier about it. I was amazed at his reply to me, he was fine with it, and said it wouldn't matter if I sold it for triple the price.
So my supplier has no problem with me selling the food that I buy from him, I want to be able to give him more business, even if he doesn't make much a profit himself.
He's got a warehouse full of this food and is trying to sell it. I buy expired food from him at a lower price and feed my own pets that food and they love it. So I'm helping him by getting rid of his expired stock and feeding my pets good quality food at the same time.
Thankfully this is working out for all of us. And some of the profit I'm making is going towards the rescued cats so they can get vet care. I myself, only get about $5 from each sale to put away for emergencies, which isn't much more than he makes himself on the sales.
I'm just happy that I'm not losing out on good food for my own pets.

I would recommend to tell the person to mind their business but wonder if it is best just to ignore the person. Simply because if they are gutsy to butt in then maybe they could retaliate with worse. Not to alarm in any way, but anyone with too much time on their hands love to create havoc for others.
I know you do a lot for so many helpless pets, therefore, I would try and ignore and carry on with your excellent ways as your pets, am sure aver very happy.

They tried, believe me, but their plan backfired on them.
Since my supplier is fine with this, this person has no say in the matter, and that's good.
I'm not worried about them, since I've been given the go ahead to sell for whatever price I want to, but I'm not greedy and wont sell for higher than I'm selling for.
I might just pick up a lot of this food and sell it at a flea market, who knows, I might sell a lot of it for him.
There is a store in the city that sells the same food, but they sell for retail price, same as the website and they charge tax, which I don't, so buying from me is a better deal for anyone wanting to buy this food.
I'd gotten an email last night from a potential customer and they were floored by my low price since they pay $85/bag for premium food like this.
Many people, like myself, can't afford such high prices for good quality food, and this really helps.

I think it is really great that you are doing this and not bothered with the nosy person. Am sure your supplier is also happy too.

I find it amazing that someone would become so nosy about your business. I'm glad your supplier doesn't mind you making a profit because he could have been really picky about it. The person he buys from could be even worse if he wanted to. It is good when everyone can make something in this operation. I wish you continued success!

Thanks.
On Sunday I will be making a whopping $110 on one large order, and none of that will be going in my pocket.
It's being put aside for Tiger to be neutered and get his shots.
The customer is paying for gas on top of the purchase because I will be making a 7 hour round trip just to get it to them.
I may have a stop prior to that, and the profit on that sale will be going into my gas tank to get me down to the second customer.
Sure, it would be nice to be able to put that $110 into my own pocket, but my rescues come first.
This nosy guy would be absolutely floored if he knew how much I'd be making on this sale, and who knows, maybe he'd want the same kind of profit himself.
But he'll never know.

kris182_2000,
I am sorry but did you say expired pet feed? I suppose you know what you are doing here.
Anyway, I believe as long as your supplier knows and understands business ethics and integrity then I am sure no one would be able to override your representation. Since the emergence of the internet, conducting of business has taken to another level where suppliers or manufacturers are cutting away their middlemen and reaching direct to their customers.
I do not know what prearrangement you have with your current supplier but I hope it will be one which is in black and white, legal binding as well.

Why does he not buy himself and do as you do and make some bucks? I think this person is just jealous ,

Hmm... what is it that the person wants you to do? He wants you to sell your stuff at the same price as your supplier? Or is it that the person is also in the business of selling pet food and he wants you to sell yours at the same price as his?
If it's the former... you are not the supplier's official distributor or anything like that. You are doing this as your own little business so you don't have sell for the same price.
If it's the latter... well, he has nothing to do with you and your prices. He'll just have to learn to be more competitive. =P
Either way, he really has no business telling you how price your stuff. Just don't mind him. =)

I couldn't sell at the same price, I wouldn't make anything for my time and travel expenses.
And this guy claims to go a 1 hour drive, 2 hours round trip just to pick the food up. Try a 7 hour round trip to deliver food to a customer. If I sold for the same price I buy for, I wouldn't get there, let alone home.
This is my own little business. I had a rescue help me with my foster Tiger, and I'll be giving back to them in the future with this.
Some of my profit will at some point, go on food that will be given to them for their rescue agency.

Expiry date doesn't matter on dry food, the bags are sealed so well that you need to cut them open. They are in foil bags not paper bags. They stay fresher for longer.
And besides, the oldest expiry date I've found is for late April this year, it's not like it's years ago.
