What if your bank doesn't want your business

You know what, I just read a funny article from USA today, and they were reporting about those giant banks, like Bank of America; JP Morgan & Chase simply want to get rid of those low - profitability customers, since they are not worth that much to be their customers. By doing so, they would raise the fee on their checking accounts. So, instead of putting your hard - making money in their bank, they would rather rip you off and scare you off. I as a vivid example, recently I close my account with Chase since they charge me $12 per month on my checking. Why would I deposit my money in your bank, and somewhere else won't right? Like Credit Union, and community banks. Since I request to close my account with them, the branch staff also not seems to care whether I would stay or not too.

Personally it is so Sad when Banks are like this. The government chose to bail them out the same time they bailed out the Car companies, and look where it has brought us. Higher Fees, Higher interest rates on Credit Cards, etc. And a lot of the people have become less friendly and could not care if they have a smaller customer with them or not. I personally prefer a Credit Union and am Glad I am with one. I have a higher interest accounts with them, even the months that my money just barely stays in there due to Bills.

That is how I felt when they sent me a letter notifying me about $12 charge to my checking. And I call their customer service and they simply gave me an answer, "that is the way it is." So, it seems like whether I like it or not, I can close my account. Without hesitation, I closed it.

These businesses lose customers all of the time and they just do not seem to care anymore. I uess they still have alot of them left that they can screw over so losing a few people here and there, they could care less.

To be honest I would rather be a member of a Credit Union then a bank any day since the customers own the Credit Union and i've found out loans can be more affordable there. Most giant banks have crooks in charge. They didn't even lose their job either during the Financial Crisis. They people in charge of the step down even though really they should of. Still, JP Morgan is a really good bank and they actually held up well during the financial crisis compared to the other banks. The only reason I haven't switched to a Credit Union is because my bank has done a really good job at keeping my account secure and warning me of unauthorized charges over the phone before I even had a clue about them. A bank like that is too good to switch from although I would get a loan from a Credit Union.

I know the bank where my husband and I bank at will charge a fee unless one has 1500 in their account every month and keeps it in there, or has a checking account where 25.00 a month is transferred over or if you have direct deposit set up to where there is 500.00 in direct deposits every two weeks. It is rediculous that these banks charge fees. My husband and I opened a savings account which has put a strain on us because my husband's hours got cut back again and he is being treated so badly. I also belong to a credit union and like them much better.

Hi! I had the same problem with my local bank here, I had a checking account with this bank for many years and they did not charge me with the checking account, it remained free for 3 years and at the forth year, they started to charge me a monthly fee of $5, unless I keep my balance at $5000, so I just do so, so that I won't get the month charge. Recently, they changed the term again and now they charge me $15 a month unless I make a loan with at least $100,000 with the bank, I would say what the hell am I going to take a loan with the bank when I don't even need it and that is really ridiculous. I did not close my account like you, but I change it to a saving account which is free with no any charges and when I informed that the bank officer that I wanted to change my account, they just did it without much question as if they actually did that many time and they know what are the reason.

Banking is big business in today's world. if a bank does not want your business, then that is their own loss to deal with. It ony takes the word of mouth to famiy and friends and banks may notice a considerable differnce.
