I understand that power cut has increased in tamil nadu. In May middle new party has taken charge of government and inspite of this power cuts are there. How is the power situation in your state and how do you manage power cuts? Luckily I am away form Tamil Nadu for the present.

Jayalalita has said that she would give laptops to all students after winning, now that if there is no power then whats the point for her to be in power and just think how would you charge the laptops in tamilnadu with power. Lets be clear that power cuts are routine in india in summer days.

As u say without power laptops cannot be used continuously. I am aware of power cuts but not to this extent say 3 to 4 hours per day. have a good day.

I am lucky. I stay in Mumbai and I have seen a power cut only once (for more than 5 mins) in 25 years. So I really have nothing to complain. However, I can imagine how you must feel when you are without power for a few hours. Hope the power situation changes in Tamil Nadu. But, if it makes you feel good, apart from Mumbai, the rest of Maharashtra faces the same problem.

Hi ravisivan, definitely will drive to the nearest supermarket and get some air condition to cool down our temperature. As usual computer down no more discussion in mylot, can't do much. Wish that power supply is always there.

This is terrible ravisivan! Entire India is suffering a lot in the hot summer and the power cuts are adding more frustrations. The productivity is suffering a lot now. I heard agriculture is also suffering due to frequent prolonged cuts. My cousin got some heat boils as well. I dont know what the new government in TN doing. She spoke very well critizing the opposite parties when not in power. But wondering what she is doing now. Asking PM for 1000MW? Infact for all political functions, they use all our power supplies and now they say shortage?

Its a typo sorry about it, its 4000MW she has requested from PM. I usually visit Chennai to meet my cousin sisters. I am not in Tamil Nadu though, I usually read the news and get it updated from my sisters. Heard Chennai is really horrible this summer and power cuts making horrible. Little kids are suffering a lot!

1000 MW will not be sufficient. Shortage is of the order of 4000 to 5000MW during peak hours. U are also in Tamil Nadu? I normally stay in Chennai. Now we are with our daughter in Indiana. USA.

Hi ravisivan
I was not aware that some areas have power cuts. Sad for anyone to experience this as refrigeration and lighting is so important in our lives. I have never experienced this and am sure that if I did, though so unhappy I would be I suppose I would learn eventually to get use to it.
We have had a black-out, as we call them from time to time and have heard of some having the situation depending on what area it is for probably 3 days. I personally have only experienced this for a few hours and years in between.

You are mentioning about black-outs in USA. Of course they are not that frequent as it is now in Tamil Nadu. The new chief minister MsJ.Jayalalitha has said that she will solve power crisis in three months. Now the State is facing shortage of 4000 MW per day on account of summer - ACs are being used more.
thanks for your comments. have a good day.
