A long, slow road to weight loss.

On November 17th, 2009, I joined a site for people who were interested in losing weight.
I was sure that it would help me keep motivated to lose the weight I need to lose, but have had mixed reactions to the site.
When I joined the site, my starting weight was 185lbs. My weight fluctuated constantly, never down enough, but never higher than my starting point.
After a year on the site, I finally started seeing results, I was doing something right for once.
In May of 2010, according to a blog post of mine, I was sitting at 179lbs. That I thought was a milestone then, but that was just over a year ago.
That certainly wasn't much at all, but at the time, it was progress.
I'd joined a gym shortly after that, but I regret it. I regret it because I never actually used the membership, and have wasted my money for a year on something I didn't bother with. I went a few times, but then I moved and couldn't get there anymore.
However, that's not a problem, since I've been losing it on my own.
I used to track all my exercise in the past, but haven't done so in ages. I've only been tracking my weight loss.
But no matter, it's paying off and that's all that matters to me.
My weight as of this morning is 168lbs, down 15lbs since joining that site.
I'm now drinking a lot of water while at work, and that's a good thing for me. I sweat it out, and don't need to find a bathroom while out working, unlike in the winter.
I've set a goal for the end of July, I want to lose another 8lbs, and I'll be happy with that. I'll set another goal after that one, and hope that I can stick to it.
I want to get pregnant, but can't until I lose enough weight that my back can support it.
If I can get down another 30lbs by December, then I'll try to get pregnant, at least it won't be so bad.
Looking to the future of my weight loss.

I did the same thing with a gym membership one year. This year we scholarshipped in and I am using it quite a bit. I do not track my exercise, and there are days that I just cannot get there, oh well. I am not losing weight, yet, but I am gaining strength which lets me do more which will help me with weight loss. I worked a fairly long and active day today. I am about ready for bed. Good luck on your weight loss goals.

I am losing weight at the moment too, and I have lost 54lbs since October. It seems rather slow when I put it like that, but in actual fact it has been nice and steady, and I can certainly see some amazing changes in myself now. Just think about the reasons that you need to lose weight, for you it's having a baby. Think how amazing it will feel to be able to feel your baby kick inside you and know that you've finally got to the place where you want to be. 30lbs by December is more than workable, as I hope to lose 50lbs by that time and think that I will manage it. Good luck, and I hope that you manage to reach your target. Every little helps.

Congratulatons on your weightloss so far. you are doing well. if you drink very cold water your body has to work harder to keep your body warm so you burn more calories! Keep up the great work!

Lose weight is not really my problem. I always think about a strong, healthy body, so I always try to keep my weight in control, practice exercises every day. I like active activities, i love going out site, jumping, running. And I thinks my passion of active activities is the season keep me healthy. We are born to active, not to be just sit and eat all the time. The first thing to have a suitable weight is love active activities. That all we need.

Congratulations! You are making progress.. We can never compare ourselves with others, just be happy with what we accomplish!
It is also important that we get good eating and exercise habits in the long run, and you seem to have found something that suits you..
I think I am doing some progress too, with a good diet and together with good food supplements I get the right nutrition so I will get healthier and hopefully loose a bit of weight too..
Have a great summer..

Losing weight is a good thing and setting small goals is a good way to do it rather than trying to lose a lot fast. It may not seem like much, but being down and not going back up is still a good thing! Keep it up and you will get there!

Hello there, I am losing weight at the moment too to prepare my body for pregnancy within the next couple of years hopefully. I weighed 255lbs when I started, and now weight 205lbs, meaning that I have lost 50lbs so far. I still have a very long way to go, but I am confident that I will be able to lose the rest of the weight that I need to in order to be a healthy weight. I know that I can do it, and you will be able to do it too. I need to lose 37lbs more in order to be a healthy BMI, and it is then that I am going to start trying for a baby myself. My partner and I are very excited!

Wow this is wonderful Kris and sounds like you have a target and plan with consistency. Which is the key, consistency and determination.
I exercise at home religiously, though now I only do so for cardio as I have lost too much weight. But wanted to add that you sound like I did when I started 3 years ago. That was to have a consistent tracking and determination.
Good luck and glad you have lost some weight and looking forward to hearing more.

Hi kris, your motivation and courage to push yourself in losing more weight definitely inspired me to lose weight and take it seriously. I started 2 years ago, joining gyms, doing cardio exercises and purchasing ab machines just to keep my tummy flat and lose weight. I can lose weight at least 2 to 3 kgs but it will easily come back when I slack going to the gym or using the ab machines. Now I'm trying out jogging and joining fun runs for a start. If I can lose 10-15 lbs by December and maintain it and lose my belly fats that would be an accomplishment for me. That would take pure perseverance and courage to accomplish. It's a start.:)
