I Love You, Mommy!

I am 33 years old but I will never be too old to tell my mother that I love her. Tonight was one of those nights that I just felt like I needed to let her know. She works nights so I sent her a text message that I knew she would get when she went on break. The message simply said, "I love you, Mommy!" I just received her response and it said, "Mommy loves you too, more than you could ever know!" It brought tears to my eyes because I know how she feels because I love my children just as much as she loves me. It really doesn't matter how old my children get, they are only 10 and 4, but they will always be my babies just like I will always be my mommy's baby girl. Do you ever just feel like someone needs to hear that you love them?

This endearing words comes out naturally everyday between my children and I. I guess I have won this challenge because when we are still young we do not say this often to our parents probably because we are not trained to be expressive or vocal about our feelings even with our parents. That is why while I am growing up I told to myself that if someday I will have a family of my own, I will teach my children to be affectionate and not be shy to express their feelings and say "I love you". And indeed I think I have accomplish it well. At this time, even how often they tell it to me, the these words never became just a lip service, but become more and more sweet each day. Take the opportunity to say "I love you" to people while they can still hear it, while they can still feel the real meaning of these words.

That is so lovely! You are very fortunate to have such a loving relationship with your mother. I am envious because I do not have such a gift because my mother does not have a good relationship with my sister and me due to past emotional abuse which is a long story! I think it is paramount to express how we feel to those we love especially our children. I know what it is like not to have that reassurance and it does affect your self-esteem a great deal. Not a day goes by that I don’t tell my little girl and my husband how much I love them. Good on you for such a thoughtful text message, I bet your mum was moved to tears!

I am also a mother, but i never missed a day without saying "i love you " to my mom. She lives far from me and i always leave messages to her facebook account,so when she logs in she will read my messages. She just called me this morning and the first word i always say is "hello mommy, love you so much" I am a mother of 3 but i still feel i am also a kid wanting a mother's love.

Its nice to send her that, one should never shy away from telling their loved ones that they love them. I lost my parents too young and I still miss them and wish I could tell them so. My mom kept celebrating my birthdays till I was 30 year old with cakes and candles, I asked her once that I am too old for these mom, she said she is celebrating her becoming a mom not me becoming a year older. That shut me up for good. But till today I remember her words and feel so loved by her.

Hi singlemommy. I definetly believe that everyone needs to hear that they are loved. Having said that, my mother passed when I was 12 years old and today and everyday I miss my mom. I am a mother of 3 children, 2 living and one deceased. And knowing that they love me keep me going. My daughter tells me often tha she loves me but my son never does. I was visiting an elderly lady the other day, who is being cared for by her daughter. The elderly lady is in her 90's. She was talking and she said, my grandson told me that he loved me, and that brought tears to her eyes. I am sure she will now remember that until the day the she pass on to the next life. He really made her day. It is good to hear those words and that they are truly from the heart.

It is ashamed that I never say I love you to my parents directly, but that dosen't mean I don't love them. Yes, I should say it to them one time, because they are those that need us to care for with our whole life.

That is so sweet! Your mother is lucky to have a duaghter like you. I don't usually tell my mom that I love her. I don't know why, ever since, I have already been that way. I hug and kiss her..but seldom tell her that I do love her. But because of this thread, I am encouraged to do so. Thank you!

Well it happens in every stage of your life. Mother is someone really very special in our life. I know a lot of time we just get the feeling that how much we love our moms. But we often do not let her know our feelings. At the list this is what I do. But I believe she does not need any formal message. She get to understand my feelings from my day to day oncern for her. However, it is great to see your love and concern for her. She must be proud of being the mother of such a nice baby. happy mylotting!
