I don't know if it is the same in your country but here in the UK the humble cupcake (or as us oldies say 'fairy cakes') are getting really popular. Mt daughter has a small business making cakes from home , over the last year or so she has been getting more and more orders for cupcakes, even for wedding cakes. The picture I have added is of some cupcakes that she made for Mothers Day this year, she has already had loads of orders for Fathers Day cakes! Is this just a British thing, or are these cupcakes more popular in your country too?

In a country like India cupcakes are already very popular.People who cannot afford the big cakes east the cup cakes and enjoy themselves.I love the taste of cupcake inside a wrapper. Here we got chocolate cup cakes or we get cupcakes mixed with nuts and fruits. It have been long since i ate a cupcake. I have been eating birthday cakes and pastries. I think it is time to try the simple cupcake. These cupcakes come in handy when we are serving a huge amount of visitors than opening new packets of cakes and cutting it for them.

I must say, those are some yummy looking cupcakes. I have noticed a few more cupcakes here in Canada as well. Last December, I went to a wedding, that had a cupcake wedding cake. Sure, why not. I think it is a good idea...especially for kid's birthday parties...they can be make to look cute and are fun to eat. Ah, but this too will pass, I'm sure.

They are picking up the trend in everything. I think they are replacing the traditional huge cakes with loads of fondant in special occasions like birthdays, debuts, weddings, and other things. They're really very practical when you think about it. Instead of getting a huge cake masterpiece (which is highly appreciated of course), cupcakes are easier to eat and carry. The guests can take them home as souvenirs and they wont have to worry about carrying a bag or something just to get some of the leftovers in the occasion (if the celebrants permit it). That's just what I think anyways.^_^

Yes cupcakes seem to becoming more popular in the US. More and more people are having them at their weddings. I have also seen birthday cakes with them. There is a small cake in the middle surronded by cupcakes. I think this is much better if you want to give to someone to take home. You can just give them a cupcake instead of cutting etc. I think I also like it in part because it is something different!

Hi there! Yes, cupcakes are getting popular nowadays and here too any are crazy about it. I baked and sell some like your daughter did. Remember the biggest order I have was from my younger sister when she had an event in her school. It includes cupcakes, cakes, muffins and tarts. And now she is in college and I still accept orders from her self or her friends and others too~ It has been a trend lately to have a business in cupcakes~ From the picture I bet her cupcakes are delicious!

I attribute this trend to cable TV. The food network has a show about two women who have an awesome cupcake business. I am so glad your daughter has such tremendous work ethic also brains. One can be smart and do absolutely nothing. You could support her business by starting a blog and respond to it and update it! COOL!

I do think they have become more popular, not that I can really understand it, except, perhaps they can be eaten with the fingers, so no forks required. I would say that if people are making cupcakes, then it would probably be easier to make a "special" cupcake just for me with special icing and the like so I wouldn't get any corn in it (powdered sugar is 3% corn starch)

Hi. oldchem1. Yes, the Bakery in the grocery store usually makes cupcakes. Every holiday, it seems like, they make cupcakes that you can buy. Like during Halloween, Valentines Day, Christmas and many more holidays and special occasions. I love eating cupcakes, they are very delicious. I don't know if we have what you all have in the UK, but I am sure that we have cupcakes that are very delicious.

So you call them fairy cakes! I like that! I think these cupcakes are also becoming popular in our country. I've seen a lot of them being sold in various stalls in many shopping malls here. I love looking at them for they really look sweet and cute but honestly I am not really fond of eating them. I'd eat just half or just one the most but I'd take out the icing before eating.

Sadly the old English term 'Fairy Cakes' is being taken over more and more by the Americanised term 'Cup Cake' - but whatever they are called they certainly seem more and more popular. We too have many stalls in markets and shopping arcades now with people selling them!

in china, it seems not popular, maybe because they can not bought everywhere,in my opinion, cupcakes' appearance are very cute, lots of girls like them, they are colourful and with all kinds of taste. The most important thing is its convenience,it is small enough to take it with one hand especially for the children.

First off, I must say that your daughter's cupcakes are absolutely beautiful! I wouldn't want to eat them! I think cupcakes are making a huge come back! Look at all those shows here in the US. Cupcake Wars, for example. And cupcakes are just so darn cute, how can one resist them! I guess because they're easy to eat and cheaper, perhaps.

Being a Brit I must be one of the few without a tooth for cakes. Good to read that her business is going well; especially with times being what they are.

I think that cupcakes are becoming more and more popular. There is so much variety in what you can do with a cupcake. You can put designs on them and make them taste like all sorts of colors. There has been an increase of cupcake shops in new york city. There is also that reality tv show Cupcake wars and I think that it makes people want to make cupcakes. On tumblr, I see all sorts of different cupcake designs like the cookie monster or the minions in Despicable Me in them.

Yes cupcakes are a huge hit in my area of the United States as well. I love them. I think the ones the stores create are breath taking. The photo of the cupcakes your daughter made that you posted are incredible! She would make wonderful cupcakes for a wedding cake. They are doing that more often now and I am sure she would come up with something amazing based on the mothers day cupcakes.

It is also becoming popular here..and just last march when it was my boss' birthday, her husband gave her bunch of cupcakes instead of a whole cake. The cupcakes were cute and so adorable! I even want to go and bake one right now now that you have mentioned it.. it is cute and unique.

Yeah, I think cupcakes are making a comeback. More and more weddings, birthdays, and other parties are opting for cupcakes instead of traditional cakes. I think it's because cupcakes are smaller and much easier to decorate than big cakes. It's just like playing when decorating.

well im from the uk and i agree. you can have tiers of cupcakes instead of a wedding cake, one for each guest and i think its a great idea.
