i love ferrets because they are fluffy and for the most part if they dont become grouchy from no attention they are lovable but i wanna make sure they are a good pet before i get one so what do i need to know. i need some pros and cons about the little buggers. also can you let them around the house with cats that have claws i would guess no but you never know so i will add that in here. my choice is between playful ferret and docile chinchilla so i need your help :_

IC well i love to play with my animals and i think i could play with my ferrets at least.... 2 or 3 hours a day or at least keep them company :) and do you know if i can let them loose with my cats? they look like they can defend themselves but i dont wanna hurt the little guy :(

I have never had a ferret as a pet, but I do volunteer at a local shelter that has a ferret. They can be loveable pets, but are a lot of work, and need a lot of attention. Many don't know this until they get it, then coplain how much work they are.
It could also be very pricey, which you need to consider as well. I would do your research beforehand, and consider that.
The ferrt we currently have bites a lot from lack of attention, they will continue to get abusive and violent the more attention they need or want. I know I've been bitten a number of times from just feedint the ferret.
They need at least 2 hours of play or more a night, plus a routine schedule to be followed.

Ferrets are great pets! Perhaps not for everyone but they are great.
Much easier to keep as a dog and more company as a cat.
I have a shelter for over 12 years now, mainly work with complicated/problematic ferrets (and skunks) and I still find them great.
And I can assure you the problems these animals have (health or behaviour) are in 98% of all cases the result of the former owner).
