There is high probability that they can. Simplest reason: more than 70 % (I think) of how we communicate, is not made by what we say, but how we act, by the nonverbal language. So if 2 people separated by the language barrier , really love each other, don't worry, they will definitely understand each other.:D

"Actions speak louder than words". I think this best describes my opinion about this particular topic. As long as people of different languages are willing to go beyond what they can hear and would focus more on what they can feel, language will not be a barrier as far as love is concerned. If the spark of love is already developed and have bloomed in full, learning each others languages would just be the effect of the real and genuine love. Let us then remember that: "Love knows no bounds".

That is an amazing answer. But still somewhere down the line won't you feel you did not say much or could not explain better about what you feel for each other. As someone mentioned here, we will end up learning both the languages in the end. From my point of view language is still a barrier among people in LOVE. Because how can you express yourself better if language i coming in between?

I think when you have a language communication barrier, you can't say you're trying to show your love to the other person, it must be just physical attraction at first.
Therefore, if both are interested on each other, they would start to do whatever is needed, either learn the other person's language, at least the basics, or less likely use sign language, which is valid as well.

language shouldn't be a barrier in relationships.in love, actions are more of the language than words.couples show their love for one another by doing things that will make the other happy.even if they came from different countries, actions can communicate love effectively.also, you can overcome any language barrier in relationships by learning each other's languages.

When there is a physical chemistry or a spark between the two person of mutual interest the language barrier can kind of cut to the crap that often exist in dating someone who speak your native language.:)
