I've actually purchased a few dvds that came with the 3D version on the disc as well, each dvd included a few pairs of the plastic 3d glasses. It was pretty neat. While 3D is a nice capability, I prefer regular HD television over 3D.

But i think 3D is a different dimension and yes it is not always a pleasure to watch everything in 3D but sometimes 3D is fun and that cannot be replaced so just wanna say its a good thing.

I agree, it is a nice way to watch movies at times. I really enjoy watching movies that have a lot of action in 3d.

Even i love to watch 3D movies with a lot of action because it makes me feel that i am in the real world and the things are happening in front of my eyes and everything is so real.

Perhaps, but I find those glasses really annoying at some point.

The glasses sometimes can be annoying but if u want to enjoy the 3d quality than you will have to wear those glasses because without it its not possible to get the 3d effect.

I agree, the 3D glasses do get quite annoying after some time. It seems almost impossible for some people, especially younger kids to keep them on during the whole duration of a movie.

3D as "fad" and its now coming bad. It will still be a fad and will fade away.
So the answer is no. Its not the next big thing.
It was always there.

I actually got a Sony 3D television at home and it cost me around $3000 US dollars months ago. The outlook of the TV is just perfect and I think it is absolutely the best one (in terms of outlook only) among its competitors.
My father and I used it to play the 3D games of playstation 3. And we did bought few disc of 3D movies to watch. However, there are not many 3D movies have their DVD released in 3D format. I think it's probably because 3D TV is not that prevalent at this moment.
And you can also change the normal TV broadcasting images to 3D images as well. However the effects are not that satisfactory, that is, I think it is not very "3D", if you have ever been to IMAX and watched 3D movies like Harry Porter, you should know that the image you saw is very close to you or just in front of you like the real people flying in front of you.I don't know how to describe the image I saw but, in my opinion, maybe the technologies of developing 3D TV is not perfectly mature at this moment and it is a little bit below my expectation.
I understand that I cannot compare the experience of watching 3D movies at home with 3D TV with the experience of watching 3D movies in regular IMAX cinema, but I am sure the technology will be more mature in the coming future. And to be honest,my father enjoyed the experience provided by our 3D TV at home. And it is a good investment and worthy for 3D fans to have a 3D TV at home for a low price. ^__^

Though amazing in technology and advances. I don't get the same feeling in watching films on 3D televisions as the feeling i get when watching 3D in movie theaters. It seems you may have to sit very close to the 3D television to get the same effect. However LARGE 3D televisions would be great, they are rather costly. For personal preference, i prefer sitting at a certain distance from the television, not to far, not to close. Others may have their own preference and may be comfortable with the distance that you may be required to sit on 3D television to feel a great effect.
But overall, holograms would be a great future for home theaters. they should work on that =).

Its expensive to buy a 3d television i know but there a lot of them who are willing to buy the 3d television and yes the effect which theaters create cannot be compared with the television at home but still a great technology.
