Was totally embarrassed.. This has to be one epic moment for me.
Went to a HTC launch today and they had a lucky draw where 15 winners were able to win a brand new phone. My boyfriend was extremely lucky to be one of the 15 who won a phone. For me, a embarrassed night.
The emcee called my name without the surname. And i was so happy that i ran forward. Upon reaching the stage, the emcee said: wait, i have not mention the surname yet!!!
Doombz.. It's not me. And i had to walk back down. Felt really embarrassed and i told my boyfriend i want to leave the place immediately.
Is this the right way to behave? Or it's just a small matter?

Its alright it happens sometimes do not be upset and yes just take the matter with ease this will make you less worried and you will feel better and there are such cases in life and just forget it as a bad dream and you were not wrong by leaving the place because as if you were not among the top 15 so what is the point of waiting.

Woke up this morning and told myself to get it over. It's a new day and i felt like it was just a dream.
Definitely. What the point of waiting and hanging around there.
Thanks gamma for your advise that I should take the matter with ease. You reminded me that I should do so for every single situation of mine.

I would really be embarrassed had I been in that situation. I wouldn't know how to react if I'm already running towards the stage and the emcee and audience saw me. Aww... Times like that, I would wish the ground opened up and swallowed me whole!
The worst part is remembering the event in your mind over and over again so vividly.
Just remember that embarrassment happens to the best of us. At least your boyfriend got a phone!

Yes, i really have no idea how to react. I guess my face was just totally red with embarrassed. When I was on stage, the emcee said... wait wait wait, I have not read the surname. I was like: argggg.. you should have read it earlier!!!
Yea, how i wish there was a hole in the ground for me to hide myself. Yes, the event until today is still recurring in my mind so vividly.
Sure, i'll have to rememeber that all of us are humans and that each of us do have our embarassment moment. Just take it as a entertainment and let it go.. It was lucky that at least he had a phone and we can play with it!

dream-ozn: It's really embarrassed to you. Maybe you are too excited to confirm whether you are the one that the emcee called. Actually, it's not all your faults, the emcee's negligence of telling the surname leads to the embarrassment as well. so you don't need to take it to heart. Just be cautious next time in such situation.

I was definitely extremely excited when the emcee called my name.
Understand that the emcee was trying to create a better and a 'high' atmosphere. But he should have read the surname immediately rather than wait for some time before mentioning the surname.
Definitely, it's really a lesson for me to be not so excited and wait for the emcee to call the full name first and to repeat it again before deciding whether to walk to the stage or not

There are many situations in life when we felt embarrassment but it is not too bad being embarrassing because every human have their feelings and he face different feelings in different time in life. Important thing that how we response on that feeling. I thing you want to admit your mistake happily.

Yes, every one of us have our own embarrassing situation. It is more important on how we respond to that feeling. Rather than dwelling on it, why not learn from it and let it go.
But rohmasiddiqui, you were saying i have to admit my mistake? Perhaps you would like to explain where was my mistake if i had any at all?

Yes. There's no right or wrong and we should be a brave warrior.
It's just a small thing and should not be bothering me.
Than you sentshan.

I hate being embarrassed,it's that weird feeling that just eats at you, even when you know the event was rediculous and small. Being a talkative person, however, I often get into these sort of situations. I just say what is on my mind, sometimes i regret speaking so quickly, but my friends usually understand my real meaning. I found the best thing to get over it is to just laugh at myself, not in a mean way, but in a way that is a release. I also think about how it could have been worse, and how it's not the end of the world (because, let's face it, that's what we feel sometimes). Laughing is good because comedy actually stems from a fear, reaction, and RELEASE - usually in the form of laughter or smiling. Try it. But also, don't feel bad for wanting to leave. Being human, your boyfriend should understand that the feeling you had was overwhelming, and leaving the source of the feeling should reduce your embarrassment. Those people will most likely never see you again, anyway, and if you do, you can turn it around into a great conversation starter!

I hate being embarassed too. If it's just my close friends, fine. But there were so many people there!!!
Ginsterella, that a very nice idea. laughing is a good way to resolve anything. If i ever get caught up in an embarassing situation again, I'll definitely use you method and laugh it off. Definitely, I'll never see these people again. What's the chance of seeing them on the street? Doubt we'll even recognize people.
As long as we don't lose hope, nothing's the end of the world. He understood how i felt but was also trying to make me feel better.
You are right, i now have a good conversation starter to speak with anybody and i have gained so much more!!!
