Haha!
I have to agree with ahgong.
If you need $500 quick, the one thing you don't want to do is gamble! :D

ooopss. I'm sorry. I said that because I often win at gambling. but what you said is right: you may end up losing more than that.

Beg for it!! lol =D If not, where will your $500 come from? Even if others were to donate it, it's a form of begging too, just that it's legal.. haha =D WHen one is in urgent need, we have to put down our pride. Desperate scenes calls for desperate measures.. haha =D Everybody has borrow money in their life, even the rich and businessmen does so.. lol =D

well, i guess it pretty much depends on how urgently you need it. if it's kind of immediate, then working for it is pretty out of the question. i can't think of a job that will pay me $500 for a few hours of work.
would selling my belongings consider pawning? i might sell some of my stuff online to get the $500 i need.
of course i have the money sitting in my bank account. though i think it would be considered as a way right?

I see that one person already mentioned part of what I was going to say. Yard sales or selling online like eBay.
But, I was going to say, go to second-hand stores and buy things that you think people would like or need, clean or shine them up and sell them for a profit.
I knew a family who did this every weekend. They'd have their signs guiding people to their house all over the neighborhood. They always had at least two very long tables on their lawn, filled with items for sale. They also had larger items sitting on the lawn. They did pretty well for themselves, I must say, plus they could get away with not claiming all the money they made come tax time since they dealt exclusively with cash.

Hmm... interesting!
I wonder if that is workable where I live.
Considering that most of us live in apartments, laying a table outside our apartment is not gonna generate a lot of traffic for business.
But it is an interesting way to make money from other people's throw-outs.
Hmm....

Personally, if I needed to earn $500, I would write a couple of articles on a website that I work for. If I wrote ten articles today, I would expect to have earned $500 from them within two months; but I don't know whether you mean $500 right now. If you have money to invest in something, you could do it this way, however this is never risk free and you might, of course, end up losing money instead of gaining it.
I like to sell some of my things on eBay whenever I need a bit of extra cash, however not everybody has $500 worth of spare belongings lying around their house for them to sell on the internet. If you do, however, I would say that this would be the best way to earn the money, as you could auction your items for ten days and then get the money for them immediately.

Well, what about a huge yard sale...? If you have a lot of good quality items you can sale, you can easily make $500! :-) Or, maybe sale the items online? It may sell for more!
Also, there are odd jobs like mowing lawns, pet-sitting, baby-sitting, cleaning, etc... where you can accumulate $500. :-)

AHGON All the others have mentioned good ways to make money but if you
need the money now those ways are not going to make you 500 dollars in one day. Swallow your pride and go to your bank or credit union and take out a loan for this much paying back monthly from your paychecks.

Hi ahgong!
That is quite a task. $500.00 is not easy to walk up and find. I like the responses above about the yardsale and ebay.
This reminds me of a family that I saw on the news. They would take family outtings to the city and see who could pick up the most dropped coins! They started doing it most every weekend and was making quite a bit of extra money..lol. Maybe not $500 but money nonetheless.
