What Did You Miss

I just back from vacation (my first in six years). Truthfully, I didn't want to come home. The only thing I missed while I was away was my dog, Annabelle (she stayed with a good friend who has dogs of her own). When you come back from vacation, what are you most glad to see or do? Sleep in your own bed? See your friends again? Perhaps you have not been on vacation for some time and you don't even remember missing anything. By the way, I have over 1,100 e-mails in my inbox, so expect some late responses from me.

I miss my bed and my own cooking the most. So are you going to keep us in suspense or are you going to tell us where you went on vacation. Did Annabelle miss you? What did you miss while you were gone?

Oh, I went to Branson, Missouri. I had the best time, Heather. I didn't want to come back. My parents, sister, and BIL went too, and we even hooked up with all my dad's sisters on Tuesday night because they came on vacation together as well. I almost cried when we left. But I don't think Annabelle missed me. She made friends with the other dogs and had a blast.

So did you see a lot of shows? It sounds like you had a lot of fun with all of the family together.

I ended up seeing two shows. One with my parents, sister and brother-in-law. The other I saw with all of them, plus all of my aunts. I also saw something else, which wasn't really a show, but it was definitely something. I'll have to do a discussion on it. It was disappointing though that none of my family wanted to go, so I went by myself. But it was worth it!

Hi AmbiePam, We missed you here. I noticed you weren't responding so much. So this explains everything. Anyway, just want to say, "WELCOME BACK!" It's always great to go out for a vacation, and break routines. But somehow you'd miss them too, you're errands, your comfort zone... Good luck with your 1,100 emails. See ya around. Good to have you back here.

Oh bless your heart...1100? I missed a couple of days both here and at gather because my back has been out and I haven't really felt like doing anything. I had over 300 and thought I was going to go crazy! I started to get out of the pool Saturday night. (Yes, friend, get ready to yell at me because I did something stupid) I was sitting on the little ledge that goes around the edge of the 5-8 foot section of the pool. Instead of getting down and swimming over to the steps or the ladder, I decided to turn around and get out from the ledge. I got up on my knees, but as I started to put my foot up under me the damaged nerves in my back caught and my leg didn't work. I started to fall back. Instead of just letting the water catch me, I reached up and grabbed the railing. In doing so, I wrenched my back. By Monday, I couldn't walk. Mike took me to the nurse practitioner. She gave me three new prescriptions and a shot of Toradol. That was a sight to behold because as usual, it made me quite loopy! He had to go to work, and brought me home. But after watching me try and walk in the house, instead he had me gather my things and he took me to my mother in law's house for the day. They were getting quite a kick out of my reaction to the medication. My three year old great nephew kept saying "Auntie Paula is DRUNK" and he'd giggle uncontrollably. I slept most of the day. Glad you're back. I know Annabelle was glad to see you. I know Baby Girl is always glad to see us when we have to leave her for any reason...even just a few hours.

It's good to see you back here on Mylot. For the most part, I've been missing from Mylot too, on my own vacation, except not away from the house. Just busy building a forum and spending time on other forums picking up tips on how to do that. Most times, the only vacations that I get are when we are moving from one place to another and we stay in a hotel along the way. That's always fun. If I had to pick one thing that I miss during a vacation or time away from home (on the few rare occasions that happens), then it would be the internet, forums, my blogs and Mylot. Cause usually my entire family and pets go with me on vacations as none of them seem to be self sustaining without me.

I hope you had a great time. Where did you go? I've been on vacation both with and without my family.. though it's been a couple years now. When I went without my family I did miss them a lot. When I went with my family I worried a lot about my cats. We did not have anyone check in on them.. we just left out a very large water bowl and left a large bag of dry food on the floor for them. We were only gone 3 or 4 days. Things turned out fine while we were gone.. the cats were okay, no harm done, they still had food and water when we got back. If I were to go on a vacation now I'd probably have someone stop in to check on my cats for me and make sure they're being fed and getting clean water everyday.. but the last time we went on a vacation I didn't know anyone around here well enough who could do that for me. I also missed sleeping in my own bed because when we went on vacation we stayed with a friend of mine and slept in her bed (she took the sofa) and her bed was super hard.. almost like sleeping on wood! I was really happy to get my own bed back!

I went to Branson, Missouri. My parents and sister and brother-in-law went too. We met up early in the week with my dad's sisters, all 6 of them. I had my own room, so it wasn't stressful because I could just relax and not worry about having to share a bed or a bathroom. And the bed was so much better than my own. I wanted to keep it! I have been to Branson many times in my life, although it had been six years since the last time. I love that place. I could live there and be happy.

I love traveling and I am usually sad when the trip ends and I have to go home, because I never get tired of new places, cultures and experiences I miss my pets when I am away from home. I have many pets: A dog, a cat, a guinea pig and six rabbits, and I miss all of them when I travel. When we get home we drive to their temporary homes (3 different places) and pick them up. I am really happy to see them again, that is best part about going home. It is also nice to sleep in my own bed again, but the pets are the only things that I really miss.

When I was on a vacation when I was young, I check it out my paper dolls.. I want to make sure that it is still complete, that my pets did not ruin my carton box . I hardly have vacations when I was in college up to now. I do have vacation, but it only takes one day. I did not miss anything if I have one day vacation. When I came back for not going to work for two days, i check on my emails and I answered those emails if needed.

Well I went on vacation on the Memorial weekend to St.Agustine, FL and I had a wonderful time. I'm thinking on moving there in probably two years from now ,and I felt in love with this charming city. Is wonderful to be in a place with nice beaches, night clubs and a bunch of entertainment. Not to mention the nice restaurants, the outlets, and the Art Galleries. Wow,this is life! Also, the locals are just wonderful.

Welcome back home AmbiePam! Glad you had a wonderful time on your vacation! You deserved it! I do understand how you missed your little gal, Annabelle. I'd miss my gang too if I went away which I've done but it's hard. Eventually and some day is what I say about hubby and I going on a vacation. It's been a long time but it'll happen again eventually. Take your time in responding! I think I'd delete the older ones though and go from there.

First - just delete your emails! I am so happy that you had a wonderful time and it looks like you should have stayed longer. I love to travel - I really do. I think that I am glad to see my little home again. Small but I love it so much. I love to be outside at night in my garden when it is cool. Welcome home ambiepam. Just delete the emails and start again

Depending on where I am going I too am usually not wanting the vacation to end too soon. I definitely miss my bed, and pillows, as well as just being in my own home. There is something about staying away but when it comes to my routine life at home I simply miss that. Glad you had a really great vacation as six years was a long time, I remember waiting so long too for vacations, so am glad yours finally came.

I normally miss my bed at home, but the bed I had this time was so comfortable. It was much better for my back than the mattress at home.

I am in Yorkshire at the moment on my lastest trip. I miss my two dogs, my own bed, my armchair and my kitchen. My longest trip was around the world when I was 20 to 21 years old. That lasted just over one year. I missed my family and Friends. At that time I missed my little cottage.

That's so exciting that you went on vacation because sometimes you just need that time away from everything. I have to say that I love to travel, but definitely don't like to be away for too long because I miss the good sleep that I usually get when I am at home. When I am on vacation, there is so much to do with what feels like so little time that I just don't sleep well. I go to bed late, and then am early to rise in the morning. So, I guess in a way it would be good to stay on vacation longer so I could have more time do things. But overall, I would just miss being at home after some time.

I recently travelled to Slovenia and when I came back from my trip I was very eager to eat my african ( Nigerian ) traditional dishes. I was really tired of eating european dishes in slovenia. I was also eager to experience the african sunshine. I was exposed to too much cold weather in europe. But my trip to Slovenia was quite a happy one because I enjoyed myself.

Sorry dear. I have never been on a vacation for the past 10 years. But I am following your post closely as I plan to go on a vacation this year in December. Maybe I can get some valuable tips in the process.
