I have tried many different exercise programs. I've joined exercise classes, exercised with TV programs, used a bicycle, used an elliptical trainer, Gazelle trainer, etc. By far the best exercise I like is just plain old dancing in place. Any music you like will work. It helps with my mood if I am anxious and it just feels good. I wonder how many like me have tried all the exercise programs available and what did you continue the longest.

I have never tried anything apart from wii fit. I like doing this one. I had given it up but have started to work at it again as it is the best way of getting fit and it weighs and measures you too. I also like the fact that I can work out whilst watching television and so never seem to get bored. I also love to dance despite being well into my 60's.I adore dancing but now only my grands will dance with me But sometimes I put on some music from you tube and dance my little heart out. I can play a piece of music and remember who I was dancing with and what dress I was wearing at the time.
Oh, and I also sing along as well.

Thank you for the BR. No I haven't tried the Just Dance tape. This is the first that I am hearing of it. I don't now if it is available out here but if not I could order online. It really sounds great. If I had to look down to place my feet in time to the beat of the music then I would just trip and probably damage myself. I have slacked off lately as am really tired but have to make an effort. Four weeks to lose 10 lbs wonder if I can make it? I would look so much better in the outfit I am wearing for my daughter's wedding

Me too!!! I don't have grandkids..but sometimes I dance with the Dobermans. One is really good at spinning around in a circle. I do U-tube too..one of my fav is Acky breaky heart. Around Christmas it's alwayts Feliz Navidad.
I also do Wii. It takes so long though. I try to do 390 calories (potato chips) and it takes over an hour. Often I put on free run and turn the channel and watch the news. I do a few yoga exercises (6) and some of the Balance and training plus, and aerobics. I am thinking of getting the Just Dance tape. Do you have it?? I have the mat with drawn dance steps but I don't like it.

You can do it but you will have to be very very strict with yourself. That's little over 2 pounds a week and possible, but you will have to put up with some hunger and exercise more I think. I do a 'protein day' every Monday. It always helps with any weekend splurging.
It's all protein, all day. Can't overeat, but it seems to help me a lot. Protein I rely on is hard boiled eggs, milk, chicken patty, hamburger patty, milk, cottage cheese and lots and lots of water. Which I drink anyway. No fruit or veggies. It's not fun but one day a week is doable.
Good luck and congrats on the upcoming wedding. My daughter is getting married in a year plus..lol they plan ahead. She was just engaged.

I watch the as seen on Tv demonstrations and I like the Turbo Fire the best. I have not bought any of them, but I like a few of the moves. I also do dances on my own, just out of my head, and a few moves that I did pick up here and there. I do have a bum knee so that cannot do the dancing that good. So most of the time it is walking and housekeeping.

I did see that they have exercises for the older people and those who have bad knees. You just do the jmps and leaps, but I suppose you have to work longer. Anyway I will see if it is in our Showcase Ca store in our Mall. I can get teh OBX and 10 minute trainer, but figure with what I have to lose, and my short waist, 10 min is not enough. I will have to find out some more dance moves and walk a bit more.

I had to look up Turbo Fire that is a little too intense for me. I think your idea of making up dance moves is great. That will make the exercise even more interesting. I do that too, but I am sure not on the skill level as good as you. I just mess around.
I understand about the knee, but that is the beauty of making up your own exercises. You just avoid knee moves. Walking is awesome and housekeeping is also a good exercise. Sometimes I watch TV while cleaning up or I put on music I like.

Yeah, especially if your dancing with a group you will not get tired easily.Aside from the fun and enjoyment we get through dancing it also helps in losing unwanted weights.

That's true. Dancing is the best exercise.
In my exercise routine at home, which i do every other day, after arriving from work, i would sometimes just do dancing the whole one hour. I dance like crazy to the tune of a modern dance over and over again. I just dance in a way, that i would shake my whole body and my arms and legs. I would dance until the sweat drips on my face and arms and body.
Yes, nothing beats dancing as an exercise. Although, when i do dancing , i mute the tv , while the music from the component is on.

I really do love dancing and yes it is really a great workout.I had tried aerobic work outs but it is not working for me and as I search on the you tube that belly dancing is a great workout and I just tried it to my self and yes,I really do perspire a lot and really toned my body as well.So in times that i want to have a great work out belly dancing is my choice.I think you should try it for yourself and see for the great results after enjoying the belly dancing workout routine:)

Hi stary!
I agree with you! Dancing is a great exercise. I used to dance a lot back in college and I was really fit then and healthy. Nowadays, I don't get to dance a lot because of work. But when I do, I really lose a lot of sweat, calories and fats! And I really feel good after each dance practice. Plus, I really enjoy it. I have fun when dancing. So it's two birds in one shot. Exercising and having fun.

Me too!!! That’s kind of what made me start dancing almost everyday. I had no problem keeping my fit when I was in school and also in my 20's. As I started thinking about it, I remembered I was dancing every weekend. There were constantly parties.
So I decided I can dance in place and get exercise. I started with Richard Simmons Dancing to the Oldies but they didn't keep my interest as much as other songs. Now I just set my timer and dance around.

Dancing is the best exercise, at least for me..All other forms of exercising, would be interesting, even with the music, but I would get bored..After learning some steps years ago, I found I much prefer dancing and have been for years now..Plus, one doesn't have to be in great shape, I know steps where one can still dance, even when they are new dancers or an older dancer who can't move as well..:D

I think so too!! Just listening to the music is uplifting and moving around is good for the circulation and can be a terrific cardio work out
You are correct, it doesn't matter what shape one is in or what age. There is some movement with some part of your body anyone can do. I even do sit ups in bed sometimes. I dance around in bed and also when on a car trip. Just moving it the point.
Keep dancing!!

Martial arts is an excellent work out!! That's as good as dancing if not better.
I dance in private most of the time. I am alone and just put on music that I like and dance in place or move around the room. Sometimes I put on a Strauss Waltz and waltz around the room. By myself.
It feels good. Try it. No one sees you and you can just have fun and feel so good afterward. Your martial arts is also a wonderful form of exercise. What kind do you do?? Walking is absolutely one of the best exercises.

hello,
Yes, I also enjoy dancing because it makes me feel groove. Ha ha But I just stop that kind of exercise because I like now something new which is badminton. I enjoy it now and really love to play that. Though dancing really makes me fit and sexy. LOL I now , continue my badminton exercise.

Yes, I love dancing! It helps pump up blood into the system. That's what exercise is all about. Exercise through dancing. Thus, it induces us into deep breathing in oxygen which helps burn out fats to have tone muscles. Any kind of dancing is fun, to whatever it may be. will it be fast, slow, reggae, disco ,ballroom, as long as your body moves on the rhythm. Got no problem with it. So, keep on dancing my friends and enjoy.:-)

hi iagree with that the dancing is main fitness among ourself when we dance we move our whole body and we will be free and we dont have the special trainers to that if u run it would be the possible for that and dancing is more suitable for doing except of exercise
