When I was young, I didn't like to eat lady finger (okra), only until recent years, I started to eat as I heard it's good for health. My two-year-old son likes to eat lady finger very much, my mother-in-law was quite surprise that a young kid likes eating lady finger. I went wikipedia and checked it out, lady finger is very nutritious.
How about you? Do you like eating lady finger?

I remember when I was a young child when I thought lady's finger looked weird so I avoided them. But my parents convinced me to try them one day, which I did, and since then I loved them that I ate them at any opportunity that I had. I love lady's finger most when they are cooked with curry soup, for example fish head curry. The lady's finger are so soft and tender when cooked that way, and the curry "absorbed" by the lady's finger gives that extra flavour to it......ooh, thinking about it just made my tummy make noises and my mouth water!

I do eat lady finger. I know that it is highly nutritious. However, I see to it, that I remove the seeds because it is bad for people who have high uric. High uric is the cause of arthritis and other related illnesses, like gout and rheumatism. I have known also of some people who remove the seeds before eating the lady fingers for the same reason I have. Lady finger (okra) and other veggies are rich in fiber and other minerals.

I like to eat vegetables cooked in a particular manner. I hate to eat them if they are cooked in any other manner. However I would taste any vegetable before saying that I do not like it. As regards to lady finger, I love it, the way the Punjabis cook it. If cooked otherwise, in all probability I may not like it.

Ewwwwww no I totally hate Okra and never heard it called lady fingers. I have tried it several times and it makes me literally barf. My husband likes it I did not even know it existed until we got married 41 years ago. Eggplant is another just cannot stomach. Tried to just does not set well. I love asparagus, brussel sprouts, brussel sprouts, radish, califlower green beans, carrots, squash, yams, spinach, lettuces, onions, garlic, tomatos, avacados. Fresh or frozen peas, turnips, parsnips but not okra or eggplant. Thanks.

hi dear friend, i love lady fingrs. i remember very well that when i was a kids also i use to love eating this veg. my mom makes it in two three styles. cut, filled , fried with besan ( gram flour), mixed veg. in which she use to mix lady finger, potato wedges, onion, tomato. that also use to be veyr tasty. it is a very nutritious veg. my baby use to eat it before but i remember it very well that she liked that veg for maximum three or four months. she liked it cut and not with any chappati or anything. straight, just veg. it is very good for growing kids because it is good source of calcium also.

Ew. I don't. It's so slimy, I always choke when I eat okra. If not choke, then I'll vomit. Okay, I'm getting a little gross here. hehe. I know okra is very nutritious, but I eat other vegetables, I think that's okay if I don't eat some of them, right?

I LOVE fried okra! I don't like it unbreaded and fried, bla! But if it's breaded and fried, it's so yummy! It's hard to cook though because it tends to fry crispy really fast but if I get it out of the pan quick enough, it tastes really good. I always dip it in ranch dressing before I eat it and it tastes so good! So yes I love fried okra!

Oh yeah, you can fry it but it's best breaded then fried. No it doesn't have that slimy feeling when it's fried. It's really really good!

I know okra is very nutritious, but I really really hate it
I can't seem to get over its sliminess. My husband, mother and brother loves it and I do not like watching them eat it.
But I know I have to like it someday. Okra does have a lot of health benefits. I hope I still have time.
Cheers!

Yes, lady fingers can make many kinds of delicious dishes. I loves to eat them whether by cooking, stir fried them or even steam them. But the only problem is, it is very hard to come by a fresh lady fingers that being sold in the shop. Because lady fingers that are too old isn't as delicious as the freshly picked from the farm. I missed a lot my parents' lady finger garden, where i can pluck and eat fresh lady fingers.

Of course I like lady finger. It's delicious. I heard it can make skin smooth, that's why I eat it. We even plant it at our house. That's good that your son eat lady finger. Teenage/children nowadays not really into vegetables.

I had never heard of lady finger although I had heard of okra. I didn't know what it was until a naturopathic doctor suggested I use okra and oatmeal to sooth what might be an ulcer. It did work for soothing my stomach but I didn't use it much after that point because it was hard to find it most of the time. I didn't care much for the combination as far as taste is concerned, but I did like the end result (no more stomach problem).

In hindi we call it bhindi and yes it is one veggie that I would like to eat. I can prepare a lot of dishes using lady finger like adobong okra, bhindi masala and bhindi with potatoes.
My mom is from the north so she get us used of eating veggies and she always include okra in her Ilokano dish which is Pinakbet. I will also implement the same way and encourage my kids to eat veggies a lot because it is good for health.

I didn't even know they called okra "lady finger"! When I think of lady fingers, I think of those slender cookie/cake things (sweets) and THAT I do love - ha ha. But okras - yes, I do like eating them. I think when I was a teen, my mother was introduced to okra somehow and she started putting them in her stew. Quite yummy - although it made the stew kind of goopy (thus, people using okra in gumbos - to make that thick consistency). I recently read from a fellow myLotter that it was good for those that are diabetic - I'm prediabetic, so it interests me to read stuff about nutrition. That's great your son likes okra . . . let him keep enjoying them!!!
