Are You Getting Enough Sleep Everyday?

On an average, I would say I sleep 7-8 hours a day. We retire to bed at around 11-12PM and wake up at 7:30 AM, every day. My husband and I watch late shows, DVDs or what not before we sleep so it's usually late bedtime for us. But we do wake up rather late as well. So it's an offset. We're used to this sleeping habit already and 7-8 hours of sleep a day seem to be in the right range, right?
How about you? You think you're getting enough sleep in a day?

This is something I'm not getting enough of in a day. I'm working on a night shift so I sleep at a different time as most people but during weekends, I sleep regularly because I'm easily affected by members of the household so that ruins my whole sleeping schedule. I try to make up for it but it's really hard. Once you're awake, you'll never be able to sleep again until the next time you're tired.

Yeah, but it's still different getting sleep than just getting rest.

Yeah, I know. It's difficult to get back to sleep. Once you're up, you're up. Well, what I do is just close my eyes. I don't care if I fall back to sleep or not. I just let my body rest.

So that's why. I remember having to sleep for short hours during exam weeks. Other than that, it's the usually 10pm-6am sleep.

I too sleep around 11 pm everyday after coming from work and finishing all the house work for the day. But I need to get up at 6 am to get ready to go to work. That makes it 7 hours of sleep. I do feel a bit drowsy sometimes during the day. But am used to this schedule.

7 hours of sleep is already enough for an average man. I guess your a bit stressed at work, aren't you? Perhaps, you need to have a break on the weekends. What do you think mayka?

I feel that I don't get enough sleep most days. One day I can sleep in my 3 yr old won't. On the weekdays and sat I go to bed around 10:30-11pm then get up at 7am. It seems like enough sleep but some of the times I have problems going to sleep so i feel tired all day.

When my body is too tired, I also don't get the sleep that I need. Ironic, isn't it?

I feel tired most of the day because I feel like i don't get enough sleep some days. I have a thyroid problem so that makes me tired all day too if my thyroid levels are off.

Hi!
I usually sleep at 10-11 and wake up at around 5 to 5:30AM so that gives me 6-7 hours of sleep everyday. I seldom get an 8-hour sleep and when I do, it doesn't give me a good feeling, instead, I would feel too "heavy" or something. I think I have been used to a 6 to 7-hr sleep so more than that, it's just too much for me. ^^

Hi beingwell,
I have kids, who needs to wake up early because we need to go for work, so I make them sleep by 9.30 so they can wake up 6.00 every morning, sometimes I too go to sleep at the same time, but during weekends its different story, we all go to sleep whenever we are sleepy it could be 1.00am or 2.00am and wake up at 9 or 10 am in the morning....

Sadly NO . I get enough sleep only on weekends. I sleep for almost 10 hours then. But during school days I get about 5 hrs a day of sleep. Since school is coming to an end we are having lots of courseworks and presentations and whatnot. School is really busy right now can't wait for it all to finish.

Right now, no. I only get 4 to 5 hours of sleep. I spend my wake hours on gaming and work. When i tried to sleep, it's too hot so i often wake up to drink water. I know this is not good, but there' no choice, I just can't that 8 quality hours of sleep.

We go to bed at around 10:30 to 11 PM every night and then wake up at 7 or 7:30 on weekdays, and 8 or 8:30 on weekends. I think that is just about right for us as we get to still nap in the afternoon. My poor hubby can't do morning naps though, because he is at the office on weekdays. :)

We have the same bedtime, more or less. I don't take afternoon naps, though. We get to sleep longer on weekends anyway so it's still good.

Hi! Miss Beingwell
As much as I wanted to sleep 7-8 hours during regular days, I couldn't but only utilized for about 5-6 hours only as to this moment that our second child is still 1 year and 6 months old. My husband and I can only compensate hours of sleep during weekends esp. Friday night since there's no work for the Saturdays.
I believe a complete 8 hours of sleep daily will lessen our stress and the tiresome work we have, no matter how we enjoy dealing with everyday. Having enough sleep even would make us more refreshingly beautiful. =)

Oh, you're still studying. Good for you! I know it's not easy being a student. I remember sleeping 4-6 hours only when I was still in college. Sometimes even less, especially on exams week. Don't worry, you can get some rest during sem breaks. I've you still have them.

I think I am getting enough sleep every day. No matter what time I go to bed, I always wake up at 7 or 8 in the morning which I think is good. Even if I'll sleep at 12 in the midnight, I'll wake up at 7. So every night I'll go to bed at 9 or sometimes 10pm so I know I'll get enough sleep.

Okey, I am guessing you're a little tensed right now. Relax, breathe in.. breathe out.. Try sleeping with some music on. Perhaps you won't notice your roommate going about at night.

The important thing with sleeping is to sleep when you feel like sleeping. Every person has a minimum number of hours necessary to feel recovered after a good sleep. In time this number may change. Older persons need less hours of sleep. Beauty sleep at noon is said to be good too! If sleep is not enough I feel tired all day. I need about 7-8 hours of sleep now. It depends also on how tired I am after the work in that day.

I don't do beauty sleeps. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, anyway!hahaah! Kidding aside, LadyDD good for you to know what your body needs. As for me, I feel 6-7 is just right!

I'm pretty sure I get the sleep I need everyday. I can't work properly if I didn't sleep well at night. I'll be irritated or will be easily tired. If I wasn't able to get the right sleep at night, I'll make it a point to rest in the afternoon, even a short nap will do.

Since April this year I been sleeping very very late, getting to bed until 2am sometimes 3am and ended up waking ten in the morning. I always stay up late with my computer not even worrying that is almost morning. I also can't easily leave a computer, ones I turned it on It keeps me going and going until my eyes can't cope with it. I can't seem to get rid of this habit.
