My fried's last name is Sister and facebook woundn't accept it because according to FB its refers to a religious person. now my friend is using her middle name as a last name in FB.
how can FB be so strict with names?.. but others can just use any made up names. lol
anyway, have you experienced the same thing?

Hi Juicekodai, Yes even my friend last name was a family name and that was considered religious name and she was not allowed to enter it. So she used her nick name.

There are instances that Facebook is not accepting some last names. I'm not sure why, probably due to security reasons. My friend tried to create 3 account with Facebook using her first name and the last name would be: One, Two and Three. These last names are not accepted by Facebook. What will happen if her real name is really One or Two?

Really? I din know fb can be that strict.. haha =D Does it mean that Brother, father, mother etc, won't be accepted as well?? lol =D Stupid rule isn't it? Maybe your friend should just her last name as her middle name, leaving the last name blank if possible.. haha =D IN that way, she's still able to have her last name there.. lol =D

She can always write to them requesting a name change and explain that her real last name is Sister. Once they know it won't be a problem.

I guess the reason why Facebook is being a little strict is that it tries to be authentic when it comes its members/users. I think it's just a precaution in their part.
You don't need a birth certificate to join Facebook and it's relatively easy that a impersonator can assume any identity. If you can assume another person, it is easy to scam other people.
A impersonator is a big poison apple in a networking sites since cyberspace is pretty lax place when it comes to identification. Identity theft has been so common that many are victimized online every day.
