Not the best way to start your rehab tour.....

My girlfriend and I had purchased tickets the other day for a show at a local club. The headliner was to be "Adler's Appetite", a band featuring former Guns&Roses drummer Steve Adler, along with former members of Quiet riot and Faster Pussycat. In addition to them, there were two other local bands to open the show. Steve Adler had been on the show "Celebrity Rehab" and this tour was supposed to be a new start in a new, clean life for him........
Well, it seems little ol' Norway Maine was just too small a venue and the money just too much pocket change for a "big star"(sarcasm) like Steve Adler. The club owner payed him once. He showed up earlier in the evening and walked about the club at the and then demanded more money. So, the club owner payed him more (despite the fact that the band had not yet even begun setting up yet). He took the money and then left to "go get something to eat". Well, two hours later, he called and canceled the show, essentially taking the money and running.
I can only presume he intends to return the money, but that isn't the larger point. There were a good number of tickets pre-sold and some people had traveled considerable distance to see the show, including press from Ontario Canada, roughly a 9 hour drive.
As a result, the venue was nearly empty. I have to give credit to the two opening bands though. They played anyways and put on a great show, despite the dismal size of the crowd. Props to "The Motor Creeps" and "Sinfist" for saving the evening and providing some great music for those of us locals who remained. I recommend looking them up on facebook and checking them out. They are all great people and they both make some great music, if rock is your thing. (Motorcreeps even gave me a t-shirt and cd just for being there, I wear the t-shirt proudly now)
I would also recommend looking up Adlers Appetite on facebook and letting him know that blowing off a show just because you have an over inflated ego is not the best way to win fans and start a new career. He will most likely delete your comments, as any comment referring to him canceling the show keep being deleted. There are also a few rabid fans of his there who are calling any of us who are relaying this incident "liars". I can assure you, it is no lie. We were there, Adler blew the show off.

He must of learned those bad habits from former band mate Axl Rose?

LMAO! You know, before we left to go to the show, we were joking that we hoped he didn't pull an "axl" on us. Then when we got there and ended up waiting outside for far longer then the supposed door opening time, I had a suspicion that was exactly what had happened. Suspicion confirmed of course.
Oh, almost forgot....here's the pages for the two bands that did play. I won't post Adler's because in retrospect, I really don't want to give him publicity.

Artist must know they must be responsible as artist first and worry about making money second. Your repuation is very important. In any industry or business people must know they can count on you.
I remember going to a New Edition concert reuion with Bobby Brown and the show started two hours late. I remember they came out and acted like it was no big deal we had to wait and they appeared very drunk. We booed them several times.
Only the introduction of Johnny Gill and the new song "Can You Stand The Rain".
I remember disctinctly Bobby Brown talking about how he was sleeping with Whitney Houston in a very vulgar manner.
This group Addlers Appetite has lost site of creditability and respect and seem to be only after fame and money. Which is impossible to maintain with type of attitude.
Hopefully they can learn this before its too late.
