Ele the coming comet and why are we not being informed of it?

Anyone else know why we are not being informed whats coming in the next few months?I do understand that they fear wide spread panic and all...but does that fear justify misleading us in what could be the last few months of our life's? While i tend to watch foreign news because i like to get my news outside of where U.S. politics control it. Now i have seen the Russian articles about what they are doing to prepare. Its also not hard to find where the U.S. government has ordered billions of pounds of non perishable and dehydraded foods. Even though NASA says dont worry and there is plenty of proof that everyone else is, even their own link shows how close that comet comes to earth. Its kinda scary when this comet is 2.5 times the size of Jupiter and will come closer to our planet than our moon is. Yet we are being told it wont have any gravitational effect on earth. Yet our moon which is 1/1000th of the size of this comet effects our oceans and tides. People i dont want panic or riots either, however i do feel that if we mite only live for few more months we should know. I would suggest to anyone who can think clearly to do a little research of your own, dont take my word for it...but do it soon-so you will have time to live every day as its your last and to prepare for the major climatic chaos that is sure to come with this comet. It was also kinda odd that you can look at where this comet was in a direct line with earth and sun on the day of the japan quake. The scary part for me is it will be in direct line again in a few months but this time 10 times closer and before it leaves our solar system gets even closer yet. Even if we somehow manage to stay on orbit when this comet passes we will be flying through a very heavy tail of debry that it leaves behind. You know it is gonna be close when all you need to see it is binouclars as it goes by.

I'm sure you were alive in 1997 when the Hale-bopp comet fiasco was going on. I saw that with binoculars! I have good faith in NASA that if they say not to worry, then don't. I have an expansive knowledge of physics and a basic understanding of astro-physics. With the velocity the comet is likely traveling, I don't think we should be bothered.
I can kind of accept why we aren't being told. Americans, in general, tend to flip out over every little thing. Be it Y2K when the only thing wrong was the computers not being able to go to the next year (which wouldn't have ruined anything at all, only been a slight inconvenience to fix) and the latest "the world is going to end on this day because numbers line up!" In the past, people had a way better understanding of astronomy. Today people lack it severely and I think it should be one of the core subjects taught in school.
I also don't think that it really had an effect on the earth quakes in Japan. That has more to do with tectonic plates than comets.
Anyway, challenge accepted. I will research this until I can't see straight anymore.

Thats the spirit check it out for yourself. However you do it make sure to check out this link it has nothing to do with online work.It is just nasa software that shows how close this thing comes to us.I also understand physics as well and sorry if our moon can affect our gravity as much as it does i find it hard to believe that something this large wont...and the interesting part is gonna be as it leaves our orbit it is the closest to us that it gets 0.24aui. and when you have two forces pullin on same object it definetly could cause tetonic plate shifts due to gravity flucuations. Anyways here is one link that will let you see the projected travel of this comet. http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?sstr=elenin;orb=1;cov=1;log=0;cad=1#orb
If that does not work ill try to post the link in my personal area.

I think you have your facts wrong, Jupiter is 11.2 times bigger in diameter than the earth. This is a HUGE planet and if the comet is 2 and a half times bigger than that again, there wouldn't be enough room for it to pass, that close to earth. If its that close and this big we will be able to reach up and touch it as it goes bye!

well LIVE HAPPILY..... this sort of a thing is just a hoax if this is really happening well just prepare your self, many other sort of things like this is just kind of a hoax like Jupiter(not sure) before they think that it is a PlanetX then see? It's a planet LOL.
