i'm off to watch the movie x-men first class
i finally found the time to go watch a movie with my girl
we've been very busy lately because of our work
and my band
and our online earning programs
sigh
x-men first class is definitely a movie to watch
i've heard my friends say it's the best x-men movie so far
i've read the comics but i'm excited to see how they're going to portray azazel, banshee, havok and darwin
azazel is nightcrawler's dad and in the comics he is a demon, in the movie he's portrayed as an ancient mutant.
havok is cyclops' brother and uses cosmic energy to fire bolts of energy from his body. unlike cyclops, his power emanates from every part of his body and is a very powerful mutant.
banshee was one of my favorites for his scottish brogue and drinking problem. he showed the world that comic characters aren't perfect. his sonic powers always fascinated me because he uses it in a variety of ways like flying and sonically assisted power punches.
last but not least is darwin, a relatively new mutant introduced in the comics. his power is that his body adapt in any way possible to keep him alive. he evolves in a matter of minutes and it would be cool to see him in action.

I loved "X-Men: First Class". This film was so much better than the last four (then again, no one wants to speak of the atrocity that was "X-Men Origins: Wolverine).
I loved all of the characters, but was disappointed that some of the characters that should have been in the film weren't (Cyclops and Nightcrawler being two of those characters).
This "X-Men" film is the best by far. I didn't like Darwin and I did not like Angel that much. They were certainly minor characters and forgettable.
I liked Emma Frost. She was perfect. Exactly how I envisioned her. To those people who said that she was emotionless, or did not show any emotion in her performance, you are right, but it's not a bad thing, that is how her character is. Emma Frost is a cold character, emotionally. She doesn't show much emotion because of her abilities and also because of her standing in the Hellfire Club (The White Queen is suppose to be strong and tough and not show much or any emotion at all). To people who don't know the "X-Men" or Emma Frost very well, you won't understand this.
The abilities and the formation of the teams was explained very well, and it made more since to people who were trying to get into the "X-Men" films.

having cyclops in this movie would have been somewhat cool. but then he'd only be arguing with havok a lot.
nightcrawler would've been a good addition except he was made into an assassin in the past movies remember? so fitting him into the story arc would've been difficult.
angel salvadore is a minor character, i never liked her character even in the comics. especially when she and Beak (another x-man) produced babies. Fly like babies!
But Darwin is a fascinating character. I love him in the comics. Think about it, a mutant who's mutant abilities is to help him survive. So that means age will not kill him too as his body will continue to regenerate. I've dreamt of ways to kill Darwin and yet I can see him countering each one.
The actor in the movie was probably picked because of his eyes. Darwin had huge eyes.
But no hair!
and he was kind of grim in the comics.
sigh... sometimes movies have to change a character a lot just to fit them in. or make them the stereotypical african american comic relief... tsk tsk tsk

I'm planning to watch this next weekend, I love how the costumes are more close to the comics Unlike the old movies. That task is also much more accurate compared to the Miscast West we have from the past movies. The M.'s that is really perfect except for the fact that he's wearing pants.

Yeah, they change the characters a lot, which is something that I never really liked about the films, but this time, it wasn't so bad.
I like Cyclops and Havok's arguments because they are brothers and that is what brothers do.
As for Angel, thank goodness Beak and the Beak Babies weren't in this film because it would have been a train wreak if they were.

Banshee would be one of my favorites too due to his scottish brougue and all. Not necessarily the drinking problem. Sounds like an intersting movie. I will probably see it after it comes out on video. I don't go to alot of movies unless it is of epic perportions. I have enjoying the X-men movies in the past. Love that Hugh guy.

i'd love to tell everyone about the story but it wouldn't be fair to those who haven't watched it yet.
let's just say i enjoyed it immensely and so did my girlfriend. of course i had to do a running commentary on who was who cause she kept asking.
jamuls was fixated on the screen though
watch out for banshee, he really had some really good scenes

I think this is one I will see on DVD. I am a big fan of the X men but I only go to the cinema for really big movies but I have to say this one is doing really well.
From what I have seen and read they have Americanised Banshee I wanted to hear an Irish accent in the new movie!

oh boy... banshee's in for it now hahaha
tell me if i heard his accent right :D

he sounded kind of irish to me
i believe we are so used to hearing old irish men in the movies so we are somewhat unfamiliar with young irish men speaking in the movies.
another thing is that Banshee was an educated irish man (in the movies) he was part of the Interpol, so he is quite eloquent and his accent should not be that of the gibberish type.
i think Banshee was just done right in this movie.
He just needed to be a little older though.
:D

Last week we also watched X-Men first class. We are so lucky that we have a chance and time to watch it. Well I really didn't know the story of X-Men since we don't have any chance to read it in a comics and in cartoons. But I know X-Men since grade school.
Well, I enjoy watching it. Like I really know the real story and those characters. Looking forward to watch the other series of X-Men and I will continue watching it. I really want to know the real story why people re so crazy on it.
Good day!
God bless!

one reason why it became so popular when it first came out was because the x-men were one of the first teenage teams in comics
they went through mutation which touched a vein in youngsters all over the world who were hitting puberty and realizing some things were changing in their bodies.
the childlike fascination that when they hit puberty they'd attain powers like the x-men appealed greatly to the young generation then (including yours truly)
gaining powers and wearing colorful costumes consumed me for the greater part of my childhood
they were reintroduced in the 90s and the fanbase grew and grew
and apparently the movies have also helped it reach a mainstream audience

I haven't watched it, but it seems like it's better than the older X-Men movies that I despise. The costumes are more authentic to the comic books. That Is this a much more accurate and clear with the older movies that have a bunch of miscast. But I think that makes me upset by far is the fact that Emma Frost is wearing pants. She should not be wearing pants, I showed her some actresses are who are willing to wear a white bikini or a white lingerie to play her. That's my only complaint, they should not be wearing pants

jamuls and i were just as dissapointed as you
and i expected a more elegant looking white queen than the one presented in the movie... someone more sexy perhaps... and intimidating... like the real white queen
tsk
too bad

that has also always bothered me... mystique's appearance in the movies i mean.
having her look reptilian deviates a lot from her character in the comics.
although she is blue, Mystique has always been what you'd call an attractive female mutant.
in the movie, she isn't. maybe it was meant to drive the point that some mutants are ugly to behold thus "they will never accept you for who you are" becomes true.

Of all the vixens and sexkittens they can find in Hollywood , that the best Emma Frost they can find. I saw some miscast but it's much better than the first four movies. I am not expecting much but its better than my expectations. Why do they wanted Mystique to look reptilian. her blue skin is supposed to be smooth.

Thumbs up to X-men First Class. It proves that a good movie does not need blockbuster actors. I also like that X-men First Class have cameo appearances to familiar X-men characters and actors.
Thumbs up to you, Chipesterkhan, for giving us brief descriptions of the mutants that were in the movie. I don't have the luxury of reading X-men comics thus I am not familiar with the lineage and powers of X-men characters. I have a question though, is Dr. Schmidt and Sebastian Shaw the same person? And why did Eric (Magneto) called him Dad in the end part of the story (or did I hear it incorrectly)...

as far as i know the dr. schmidt and sebastian shaw connection in the movie was only done so that the story arc could continue.
dr schmidt reminds me of mr. sinister, an evil biogeneticist mutant who preys on young subjects.
magneto never went through torture as a child
he witnessed the massacre of his parents and his wife and unborn child which triggered the release of his magnetic powers when he was an adult.
sebastian shaw in the comics absorbs kinetic energy and releases it as force through physical means. Therefore the portrayal of him generating little orbs of energy to kill was inaccurate.
I don't recall him saying "Dad" but maybe it was said due to the fact that Dr. Schmidt (in the movie) discovered magneto and developed his powers through pain and suffering. SO Dr. Schmidt made Magneto.
But then again... that's only in the movies.
:D
hope that helps

If you are an X-men you better watch this one, but there wont be any banshee, havok or darwin. First class are young X-men. new mutants.
