Hi there. I'm not an expert on this, but my younger sister told me that it's quite effective to do the "after six" method; meaning one should refrain from eating any food from six in the evening, onwards. This also means that you should eat supper or dinner a bit earlier than the common dinner time; which is, I think, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. Personally, I'm not a slim person and I've already gone through baby delivery just like you. But my priorities do not include dieting or slimming down, as long as it doesn't affect my health. Anyway, good luck to you.

What you need to do is to pull those stomach muscles back, and make them tight again. A good way of doing this is with situps and leg rises. Lie down on the floor on your back and put your feet under a stuffed chair or sofa, sit up without touching the floor with hands or arms. This will be very difficult at first but if you do it every day it will soon come. Leg rises are done lying down too. Just raise one leg at a time and slowly lower it. Keep at it until you can raise both legs 15 times.

Hello barehugs. I gave birth last february 2011 and I also need to shed some pounds in my tummy. The nurse in our office advised me to use binder for a year in order for the stomach muscles to be tight. I really appreciate your suggestion about leg rises. I would just like to know if I can do leg rises even though I gave birth through cesarean section?

Yes you can. As soon as the incision has completely healed you can start doing leg rises. Begin very carefully raising one leg at a time. As soon as you get comfortable with this, begin to raise both legs at once. When you can do 15 leg rises at a time you will have a strong tight stomach once again.

thanks aweins for starting this discussion. and thanks barehugs for the reply. Since, I have clearance from my OB that I can do simple exercise, I will start doing leg rises tomorrow morning. I am hoping that this will tighten my muscles. I am excited to do so. :)

hi aweins its been many years but after two babies in 11 months I used stomach crunches and sit ups religiously and they tighten up my tummy and I was soon back to what I had been before but sadly later on in my life I let myself gain weight and in my fifties I became diabetic. so from now on just keep your weight around whats normal for you and when you get into your forties and fifties really keep yourself slim and you will not become a candidate for diabetes.good luck awins and God bless you.

'after my delivery'...I assume you recently had a baby...this is something good to know when attempting to advise someone into weight loss or toning. You say you walked before it began raining, so change that walk into a dance. Crank up the radio or whatever music you have and 'trip the light fantastic'. Vary from fast to slower dancing, and since with dance you have the opportunity, move your body in different ways, stretching and tightening muscle groups. Do this for the same amount of time you used walking. Oh and since you've had a baby, use moisturizers on the skin, after all, it's been stretched and will take some time to regain it's former elasticity.

Brisk walking can really help flatten your stomach. If you cannot do it outdoor, you can have some exercise indoors, like going up and down the stairs, among others. You can search the internet and you can find some possible indoor exercises. But most of all, avoid sodas, because a can of soda will really add bulges to your stomach, avoid too much carbohydrates also. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Eat a little portion of food every meal, six small meals is better than 3 heavy meals. Good luck to you!

I too struggle with the same and even tried walking in the rain though never running, but i am gaining pounds like hell. I have even cut down on my food and calories but it seems nothing is working. Though walking really helps but sit ups help a lot try abpro and stomcah crunches thats the only way to loose weight effectively on tummy.
