This may be a completely obvious thing to ask, but is this site itself a residual income site. That is to say, do you continue to earn on things that you have already posted even if you did nothing else with the site?

No myLot is not a residual income site for anything we participate here. We only earn for what we participate with. At any time that you make the $10 minimum or more it will be paid on the following pay day. Accumulative earnings are for the 1st of the month through midnight the last day of the myLot server time. You can read more here: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq6.aspx Being new I would like to add that when you start discussions and I and other respond we are the only ones earning. You do not earn for receiving responses. Therefore, unless you come back to your discussion and place quality content to each responder you are not earning. Keep in mind I earn for my quality typing and you earn for your quality typing. It is important you understand the difference because placing discussions is not earning you, next to nothing. This link is also very helpful: http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx Added the extra so you understood how to earn when you start discussion. There are other activities on earnings, such as responding to others discussions, using the myLot search bar for random rewards and or using the task tab for additional earnings.

I seriously appreciate this advise. When you first get started on this site, it can a little difficult to understand exactly what is going on. I feel like you have helped me quite a bit to start to understand how to earn on this site. I cannot thank you enough for that help.

No problem and remember I too was new once before. I have also been helped by so many other wonderful members and one day if you enjoy it enough us all you too will be paying it forward. Good luck!

You are probably exactly right on this one. I have found myself being sucked into this site if that is the right word for it. I have been enjoying it so much that I just continue to write more and more on here instead of doing other things. That is perfectly fine with me though. It is summer, and there is literally nothing else that I have to be doing at the moment.

No. MyLot is specifically NOT a 'residual income' site. It pays you for YOUR participation and specifically for what you participate. If you don't participate, you don't earn. It is that simple. The only time you will get 'residual income' is when you have referrals.

Hi Kinglobster, looks like you are getting to interested in this site, just like me! Yesterday, i said in one of my discussion that my earning was getting smaller and cheaper, so after our friends here gave some tips that I followed, my earning went up a little bit :)) I think the tips and the information helped me. Now, i can smile and continue to enjoy the discussion and be socially interactive every time i am online.

This is important information to take notice of. I believe that many people get involved with this site believing that it will offer them residual income. I think it is great that you point out here that this is not the case. However, it is still possible to earn a little bit here and there just by commenting on posts and starting conversations. I think this is absolutely wonderful. I was even able to bring in about $0.70 on my first day. It is possible to make legitimate amounts of pocket money on here if you get on socially each day.

That is absolutely right Whitewingspeak. I think that we are both getting pretty involved on this website. I personally use it just for the entertainment value mostly. I know that the money will never amount to much, but it is nice to be able to talk with other writers and get paid a little bit for it. If I was even able to make $15 or $20 a month from this site alone, I would be happy to get to use that money to buy a pizza for myself. :) I don't think that everyone should be so focused on earnings. Those are for other sites that you work for. I think that this site is much more about the community.

Hi KingLobster and welcome to myLot! As others have said, this is not a residual income site as far as your own activity is concerned but if you work hard and gain referrals then that will help. I have no idea whether you have your own site or a blog or anything similar but I guess you send emails out to your friend? You can place your referral link at the bottom and maybe you will be lucky and someone will use it to sign up. If you are even luckier they will be active too and then you would earn a bonus equivalent to 25% of their participation earnings. I suggest though that first you learn the ins and outs of how to use yLot so that you can share with them. Take a look at this page and see those lucky guys who signed up at the beginning. The have definately got something coming in now! http://www.mylot.com/w/community/refer.aspx

Hi Kinglobster, mylot is definitely not a website for residual income. If you are looking for upfront payment, there are many better websites than mylot. It is hard to earn the rate of a dollar a day just by taking part in discussion threads. Having said that, most of us enjoy here since it is easier to take part in discussions than to write an article from scratch. Some people manage to earn a monthly twenty dollars.

It is too bad that it is not possible to earn more here, but I understand it. I actually work for other sites for the vast majority of my income. I have mostly just been playing around here today because there is not a whole lot of work available on the other sites today. It is possible that I could have been a lot more productive today I suppose, but this site is just too much fun. :)
