What do you do when life hands you chunky, gunky, icky, sticky old toothpaste?

I hate this stuff so much. It's when the old toothpaste builds up around the hole, and it gets rubbery and dries out. Ew! It makes me gag and I don't know why. I used to be afraid to touch it with my hands, but today I just picked it off and it wasn't so bad. I still hate it though.

I buy a new tube. Life can really deal us some real blows, but we need to keep on pushing forward until we find what we are looking for.

Placing the tip of the tube in hot water definitely does the trick. The dried out toothpaste comes off completely. I'm used to cleaning off the toothpaste top, especially since I live with younger kids who almost always squeeze the toothpaste too hard or too much.

I really hate that as well. It grosses me out i dont gag though. If I think it is too bad I usually just buy a new tube since toothpaste isnt that expensive to begin with. I buy several tubes of toothpaste at one time usually since they come in two packs, at least the ones that I buy. So I have some on hand if I need to use them.

That's disgusting indeed. We also had to much of those way back. I don't know but I think it's because of the hole in the drainage because our new one has a punched seal so it doesn't catch those excess paste whenever somebody is brushing teeth. Another thing I hate is the clump of hair you get from the bathroom drainage. It clogs the drain and it's irritating but I couldn't pick it up because it's disgusting.

Well this would be gross. I am not fond of old toothpaste. But I dont see this happening since I am the one that buys the toothpaste. I buy what my preference is and its usually Colgate whitening. Or Crest and those are pretty good. To be sure I dont get a yucky, gunky buildup I wipe the top off and keep the top on. I am trying to figure out why you would be handed old toothpaste. Is it like being handed a silver spoon?

For some reason, my parent's toothpaste always ends up with that - build up around the hole. But for me, that never happens. Perhaps it's how I apply toothpaste (upright) instead of vertical.
That's not really something to be horrified about since it's a medium used to clean your teeth in the first place. You should be more worried when touching the sponge for dishwashing and grime around the stove or such.
Though, I too don't enjoy the sight of those things building up. But I have well-use for those, I use those (by collecting from my parents' tube) to clean jewelries.
Have a great MyLot experience!

i'll use it to clean shoes.
leather shoes.
why use it on my teeth? it's already old. although toothpaste does not have an expiration date, i still believe we should not settle for anything

Oh, sick. I hate that as well, but it doesn't make me gag.
Most of the time I hold it under the sink so that the water gets it off for me. Then I wipe the remaining on a towel. I've found that if you use the travel size ones, it doesn't happen as much (you can tell how much it bothers me by knowing that).
