Do you think buying antiques is a waste of money?

Some people think it's a waste of money to spend so much money on antiques--just to put them in a glass display case to look out. Others think that rare items shouldn't be owned by individuals but rather put in museums for everyone to appreciate. Still others feel that items in museums that were centuries ago taken from other countries, should now be returned. What do you think? Should people invest in antiques? Should rarer items be available for everyone to see? And should items, once taken from a country during war or grave robbing, be returned?
