what does that star and number to your name indicate on mylot?

friends,its been many days that i have been on mylot,but i m not so consistently active on it.
i just noticed that i got yello color star and no .8 on my name.
i wonder what does this indicate?
has it anything to do with the amount of content one posts or the quality of the post.
does this directly related to our earning.ie the amount we earn for one post.
having better rank such as 9 ,10 and having different color star such as red etc...does this mean that these people earn more per post.
please reply and let me know what is it?

Star is given after a member makes 100 discussions. the number inside that shows your ranking. You have got 8 now itself means -- many people have liked your discussions. Continue to participate well.
But a similar discussion started by another member was deleted possibly because mylot does not expect people to discuss on these lines about earnings. Let us see.

The colored star is what people have rated you. Its the rating system that is used at mylot. The higher the number (ten is the highest) the more people like your commments. Personally I hate the rating system and think that it should be done away with. It makes people not want to fully express themselves since they are afraid their star rating might go down. Mylot didnt always have the star rating and I wish they would go back to that. Anywho thats what it is. :)

the color of the star varies according to the rating. blue for 10, red for 9, yellow for 8, silver for 7, etc.. probably just to distinguish the rating easier.

I got a color blue and number 10 beside on my name. Before I got this i came from the no.9 and color red. Anyway for me this is just a simple thing here that everyone could get easily as long as you have a good discussions. I just think of it a very good reward to all of us to feel more inspired of writing and make more good discussion that helps to most of us here. I love mylot even thought i am not always here to write due to lots of jobs inside the house and outside. Many things i got here as my inspirations and help me sometimes if i have problems to solve that i can't think the solutions. Here have lots of friends who helps.

Stars are given to those with high reputations as determined by other posters. Usually, the more that you write on here, the higher your start number will be. As you can see, I do not have a star at all yet. This is because I have only been here since yesterday I suppose. Perhaps I will be able to get a start at some point in the future. I can hope at least right? :)
