Drinking in Japan

When i lived in Japan I was often amazed at the actions of drunk people there. I actually heard a story, most likely an urban myth, about a work part where a guy got smashed and told the boss what a lazy a$$hole he was. Next morning he woke up, went to work and all was forgiven... because it wasn't him it was the alcohol. I have more stories, but I want to hear other opinions and stories first. Anyone?
