Again, Again and Again

There are duplicate topics and similar topics. If a topic is an exact copy of a previous discussion then it should be reported and will be deleted. If it is just similar then depending on how similar it is it will or will not be deleted. I have seen responses that were copy/pasted by the same user on to several discussions with similar topics. This is not allowed and admin removes them. I have also seen users who copy/paste the responses of others and post them as their own. Obviously this is not allowed either and are deleted (ususally along with the user's account too). Rose, myLot is a slice of life and the longer you stay here the more often you will see things which happen offline too. There are all sorts here. If things are original they stay up but if they are not they are removed.

hi rose all you have to do is just glance down the list here in mylotand see all the discussions asking how is the fastest way to make money on the net, tell me the best way to make most money on mylot, how do you find the quickest way to make money on mylot,blah blah blah over and over these are all basically the same with a few words changed so why do not newbies see that by postin yet another discussion on how to make a million without getting all sweaty that they are just adding to whats already been done, and done, and done. I personally refuse to answer any of them as to me this is just downright boring.Most people know that 99 percentof the hooey about making big bucks on the net are lies and false hoods and some are illegal. to make big money go get a J O B THAT SPELLS JOB. You work for someone and you get paid a Check,you know green stuff real money? I think people have forgot how to really work for money and not just goof off on the net.We need to focus on other things here on mylot.

It is irritating, annoying but sometimes unavoidable. Copying isn't right of course, but similarity sometimes gets deleted and sometimes not. There isn't a direct rule but a guideline - which means that the admin ultimately decides the fate of a discussion. As for the good advice given about searching the tags, well we know that doesn't work too well in practice. People don't place correct tags, or no tags at all, and then the search engine cannot function correctly. I think that the tags system has to be revised somehow to make it more functional. Personally, I haven't been subject to copying yet, but I don't start many topics either.

Friend you start good topic but you cant see everyone topics or discussions. How you can find the topic before starting such anyone is start before because 2,30,804 public are here. In my case no copy and paste because my typing speed is so fast and mind is sharp and I found a topic from day to day activities like news, events, family issues etc. Dear friend different people different opinion so they have the rights to start the discussion in other way on the same topic. I know mylot admin is deleted a topic if they observed that topic is not good. Dont worry be happy your user name is nice rose.

Many people are tempted to make unique topics And a struggled. I try making this dozens of birds so many times but not really successful because we are not really that diverse.I had actually encountered people copied my topics but I don't mind anymore. Because At least my topics are much more unique than the most clichéd topics we have here.

It is my opinion that most people do not literally directly copy from another poster. If they were to do this, the admins would pick up on this and quickly remove the duplicate post. I just think that many people do not take the time to see what all has been posted before starting up a discussion. I know that I personally have been guilty of doing this. There is nothing wrong with having a conversation that is similar to some others though. You will find that there are many people who did not get the chance to see the original conversation, or they didn't get to comment on it. Remember, we are adding new members every day here, so there is nothing wrong with recapping some topics that have already been brought up before if they are interesting enough.

Well, this is a topic many of us have had others who have copied some of their discussions they might have started almost word for word, and then try to call it their own. Maybe they copied it from other sites as well. But personally there will be a lot of interesting discussions being started here each day, and many will be like another discussion and may not even know one like that was ever started. All I can say is Welcome to myLot, do not worry about discussions here unless you know someone is deliberately copying. Just continue to have Fun and best of luck.

It seems the pool of ideas are running out and discussions on board are gearing towards monotony. I have been here long enough and have responded to similar discussions but worded differently repeatedly. I have no complain as it makes life easier for me here as my response will be almost similar too.

to have the same topic with others is very possible. the probability is high. but to see exactly the phrase or group of sentences in another discussion is a different thing. that is plagiarism. that ought to be reported.

I have seen a lot of similar discussions started by newer users (and some more experienced users) that have not read the Guidelines and FAQs, so they start discussions that are violations. Even if they had searched for these discussion topics most likely they would not find them as the other discussions would have been removed as violations. Still, many are started on the same day, so a simple search would avoid some of this, even though all of them should be deleted.

myLot guidelines have clearly stated that duplicate topics/comments/responses are a violation. If you see any you can report abuse.

There are many similar topics here on myLot and just like anything else many sort of think the same. As mysd responded above if it is a complete duplicate it does get removed. However, similar discussions, basically just means many have similar interests and or happenings. Best way for any discussion starter to avoid duplications is to search the myLot tool search to make sure it was not already started, but of course this will only work if discussion starters and anyone participating tag their discussions. See the search bar can't find something with no tags as there are no keywords to match it with. Best thing basically is that if something is duplicate, not to respond to it, and or if similar one should only respond to it if one has something completely additional to add. Copying the same respond from discussion into a similar is definitely not allowed, even if it is a different discussion.

Hi Rose this has become a common issue i daily see same discussion topics which becomes boring to me to write same response on it.It is better to check the discussion by searching it in serch engine that if there is no duplication of the discussion. Yes people do copy/paste for many responses having similar discussion for avoiding we/admin should take care off.

I'm new here as well, but I think my mind is geared differently then most, so what I post discussions about won't necessarily be the thing others think of posting. And with this many members, there has to be some duplication, but not all are exactly the same there are differences. Go into one of the pet categories and you'll see how similar they are, but they are not exactly the same. I think Mylot find this to be okay as long as it isn't directly the same. That's why you pick your interests, so it can be things you like and won't mind hearing maybe the same thing a few times, if you know what I mean. The only one that ever really bothers me is the one about how to make a quick buck on the internet. There's so many of them that are the exact same thing it's old.
