I live near Quiapo and I am always in awe of the amount of activity in this place. There is never a shortage of people in Quiapo. It seems like no one ever sleeps.
Everywhere you look, even in the middle of the night, you will see someone.
And in the morning, it will always be busy. People walking around, people forming lines, people buying stuff, riding in jeepneys etcetera.
If I ever leave this place, I will really miss the hustle and bustle of this place.
Here's a picture of Quiapo's busiest place.

would you ever like to live here? Have you ever been to Quiapo?

My husband and i went to Quiapo a few years ago. We looked for a "piesa" for the DVD player we had at "Raon". I was amazed at the many stalls of electronics at that place. But i felt dizzy, seeing so many people coming to and fro.
Personally, i don't like Quiapo. I am afraid of loitering there, lest my bag gets snatched, because they said there are lots of snatchers there.

oh hehehe i never loiter there
i go in and out just buy what i need and leave
and i'm usually wearing just shorts and a simple shirt
a small bag that i can hold near me
i don't bring weapons cause i can always ask for help by shouting or if the worst comes to the worst... then i'll have to see what my black belt is worth hehe

Wow, a black belter! Then, have no fear in loitering at Quiapo. Those snatchers should now be afraid of you.

I felt terrorized the first time I went to Quiapo. I was supposed to meet a friend outside the big church but she decided to pray first while waiting for me. when I got there she was still praying so I waited outside. Then vendors approached me and started shoving things at me. I kept telling them I didnt want their stuff but they were very persistent. some even asked me if I wanted an abortion.
I was so traumatized that I never wanted to go back there anymore but I did because my brother forced me to go with him when he bought his camera. Sorry, I know you live there and I know there are a lot of good stuff to buy in your place. My first visit was just so traumatic, most probably because I am from the province and people are much gentler there.

some even asked me if I wanted an abortion -WTH:?!
that is surely a bad idea and a negative impression for teh people of quiapo to do so. but what can we do, there's still a lot of vendors there who eat little everyday. it's dangerous there actually.

i agree with letran
it is kinda dangerous to be in quiapo, especially late in the afternoon and night.
i often pass those vendors who ask if you want an abortion. hahaha
trick is just walk past them, don't mind them. keep your head up and eyes straight ahead

i'm sorry dd if you had to go through that ordeal, these people are hardcore sellers and will hawk their products to anyone within hearing distance. that's how competitive they are amongst each other.
just don't mind them.
if you go to quiapo, have a plan in mind on what you're going to buy and where you're going

I've been there a couple times when I was a kid but then we moved to Cavite so it's pretty far. The most recent I've gone there is about three years ago when I bought my digital camera.

Yup, Hidalgo. :) I live in Dasma, it's about 20 minutes away from Imus.
Binggaling: It's really cheaper there, but the quality's the same. I had to go with my mom, it's quite scary with all the people roaming and wandering about. :)

I have never been to Quiapo although I usually pass by there whenever I go somewhere in Manila. I want to visit Quiapo Church and go see the shopping places there. Many told me that it is where I can find the things that I want to buy like kitchen aid mixer and some gold or silver wires and other stones needed in making accessories or jewels.

yeah there are good places to get your cooking equipment in quiapo. i went there to buy some for my sister who is into making suman and that's her side business.
for stones and semi precious jewelry there's ongpin street where they sell that by the truckloads.
you should visit the place
just make sure you have someone with you and try not to look like tourists

I have been to Quiapo several times. It is really a place to see because of the hustle and bustle. It's nice to visit the famous church every now and then and maybe buy whatever you need in bulk. However, I do not think I would like living there. I like quiet places, countrysides.
Cheers!

I don't go there as often.
When we still running a cellphone repair business,i use to tagged along with my ex because i am too curious how to buy those mobile parts and accessories.
I am really amazed how cellphone repair/accessories business works-double the profit eh.
But,like you wrote here...one of the busiest place ,i do agree.
One more thing,it's hard to find a place where you can park your vehicle,so you need to walk blocks and shoulder to shoulder traffic jam of people not vehicle.
Be careful with pick-pocketter (gosh)
The last time I've been there i guess was last year.
Quiapo and Divisoria- places that i guess never sleeps.
have a good day :)

so true. parking is hell over there.
and jeepneys are a constant threat to your car's paint job and other metal surfaces. so i walk to quiapo or just take a jeep or lrt
now the people traffic... wow! you'll most certainly bump into someone everytime you go there. just be careful that the one who bumped you didn't do it on purpose to pick your pocket.

Hello chipesterkhan,
I missed Quiapo, it's been years since i've been there. last few times when my brother was still in QC i would ride close to that place. when i was in college i was working as OJT in PS Bank Quiapo and very near the big church. i always nervously go to the underpass and cross the other side to take a jeep and go home. but some times i would just walk my way there, except when i have classes later on.
I miss the place but i don't miss going there, i felt dangerous when ever i go there because of the Muslim Community nearby.

i can relate to that feeling of fear. Although mine is mixed with awe and wonder.
i've witnessed several shoplifting, pickpocketting, stabbing and mauling incidents in this place.
Under all that beauty, Quiapo is a dangerous place.
we just have to respect its power

Yes, I've been there.I guess the busiest place in parts of Manila.I studied also in one of the school there in Hidalgo street.Everything you want you can find it there. Not to mention also the church of the Black Nazarene where it is located which is crowded especially during Fridays a day of Novena for Black Nazarene.

yeah I hate Fridays.
Quiapo is tightly jammed on Friday because of that Nazarene.
I respect religion but sometimes it's already ridiculous how people will stuff themselves into every nook and cranny just to be there.
And there's the Feast of the Black Nazarene where a million people or more clog up Quiapo.
We are at a standstill when that happens

I usually visit Quiapo once a month. I visit the church there and SM Quiapo with loads of clearance sale. Though the area is really busy and there's a lot of people, I really enjoy going there. My favorite spot there is the DVD section and one street there that offers low eyeglasses prices.

Yes indeed, quiapo will always be a busy place. A place of commerce, "Entertainment", religion and etc.
Emphasis on entertainment for its "entertainment" aspects.

I have been in that place on the place for a couple times. It is known for religious stuff and some witchcraft and voodoo stuff. That place is a bit dangerous though because it's also territory for robbers and snatchers. I remember some jerk slashed my knapsack and stole some of my belongings. I really have a bad experience in that place. So I rarely go there because I am really traumatized. I used to go there to purchase some pirated CD

Busy place is one of the thing i don't want to live with, but to go for shopping, and looking for some fun stuff. I would rather go to this place of quiapo. I have been there so many times when my mom used to go for buying some different kind of stuff that will use for decorating on her garden. I think everything can buy in quiapo. There are some stuff that is uniquely made in quiapo and you can buy those things discounted if you will ask in vendors about 50% discount. Huge discount if you can ever imagine compared to other places for shopping and buying things. Same quality and quantity but different prices. More convinient place i ever been. Quiapo is one of the best place to shop.

Yes I do. I already been in that place - Quiapo.
What can I say about that place - it almost have everything. From rags to riches people - you can see them all at this place. As this place was never been a quiet place from sunrise to sundown this place has always been a crowded place.
Just like you, I also miss the place.

I have been to Quiapo when we visit my Big Brother who is working in Binondo. We usually buy Pirated CDS near Chowking Quiapo. I must admit that going to the Underground Station that connects the Church and Chowking is really really busy place. Tons of vendor can be seen on that place.
