While I like most SciFi movies, I am a big fan of real Science Fiction as in books and the better magazines. There have been some movies that came from really good books. But a lot of the SciFi movies are not true science fiction; they are closer to fantasy since they have no believable science or anything that might possibly be derived from science in the future.

I agree with you Stealthy. I like hard science fiction and not the swords and sorcery stuff. I grew up reading Philip K. "Can't say his last name because MyLot will sensor me" who wrote stories that became Blade Runner and Total Recall. It's interesting to see that some sci fi concepts written by people like Larry Niven are now part of mainstream science and being considered for space travel. When it comes to te scy fy channel though, since when are giant snakes, bugs, etc. science fiction. And certainly, with regards to Friday night wrestling, the only science there are the steroids the 'wrestlers' take. It's a shame too that amateur wrestling is a great sport and great to watch but this 'professional' stuff is all garbage.

I like Sci-Fi movies from the mid 1900s. Like the ones with really bad special effects in black in white. Like Flash Gordon is AMAZING. Buck Rogers and Dr. Cyclops are pretty up there too.

I like to watch some of the 1950's sci fi movies because they were often low on the sci and high on the fi. It's fun sometimes to watch how they butcher the science. Of course, this was the era of the Cold War and people were afraid of nuclear holocaust. They also used nuclear testing as an excuse to create mutant animals and insects. And the special effects were often terrible.
