This is a very interesting point to bring up. I honestly have no idea where the expression came from. I feel that both points that you make are very valid. I honestly don't think that either one of them accounts for where the expression came from, but I could be completely wrong.

Although money don't grow on trees but they do inter-link to each other. Why? Because like what you said, money is made from paper. So, the paper which used to make money become expensive. That's why, people who plants trees that used to make paper and then used for making money will become rich forever....How i wish i can have some of the money trees in my home...

This is really a weired question that I have never seen before. Why ask such a question that are no connection at all? It is not necessary that money is made from trees but there are money are made of polymer, so money doesn't grow on trees but actually money is grow from sweat and blood and also some hard work.

If you join some of internet truly paying programs, you'll see it grow on websites.
Consider also investment program which pay dividents or interest, do they also grow on trees!
