I have a friend who usually make fasting. He don't eat for a 3 executive days. but he still look strong until the last day of fasting. I compared it to myself in just skipping 1 meal i feel really tired and no strenght at all, i feel dizziness too. I don't know how it will works for me. Do you have any idea? Have you ever done fasting? how often? what do you think is the benefit of it to us?

Fasting usually is done when you asked for something,or a purpose, mostly spiritual reason.
The longest fasting i did is a month fasting.
It doesn't mean that i don't eat anything, but deprived from a specific food.
We did it for a purpose when one friend met an accident and was given a 24 hour to survived.
Then we did pray and asked GOD and also associate a fasting for the whole day.
When doctors declared that our friend is out of danger we continue the fasting for a whole month without eating heavy meals,no meat and no colored drinks.
So,we mainly eat fruits, biscuits and water for the whole month.
It depends on how determined you are with the purpose,it will give you strength and you won't feel weak or dizzy.
have a good day

We cannot entirely deprive ourselves of food because of fasting, when we have a job to attend to. Yes, we could fast, in the manner that you have stated. That way, you will still have the stamina to work and to think soundly.
Maybe i should try to fast too, in the same manner as you did. I'll try it for a prayer request i would like to do.

None of the trials should be undertaken with some anxiety, diffidence and tension. The body plays fool with the spirit. So we need to have patience with our body and treat with gentleness but with firmness. We should not precipitate for the results earlier that what is required. Its a law of the nature approaching, conflicting and synthesizing. When we begin a therapy, the body will react negatively so we need to go slow but steady without compromising.
The day when we want to fast, then we feel the symptoms of hunger sensation, burning sensation, dizziness and headache. May be at a time we may experience severe headaches. Fasting too a gift of divine grace they say. Sometimes there will be an inner disposition. And in those days we may fast willingly and without breaking and even for an entire week. So we need patience and prepare our subconscious mind as receptive. But if we try to fast forcibly by our own will or by the coercive support of others then we may lose our balance.

Fasting should be done with intention. If we have a purpose to fast, then we have that motivation to tolerate that hunger. If you are are offering your fasting to God,you will not mind the hunger, all you want is to feel nearer to Him.It's difficult to fast on the first few days, but when your body has become accustomed to it, it will be easier the next time around.

Normally as a Muslim fasts from 15th-17th of the month or Mondays & Thursdays of the week. Its all on the sincerity of one's intention to do the fasting that is why your friend can withstand (i am assuming he is a muslim) the fasting because there are merits of fasting (as a Muslim view point of view): Allah has distinguished fasting as being of Himself; The reward for good deeds is multiplied; Fasting is a shield.

I try to fast for 2 separate days each week, though I don't always achieve this.
I find when I fast for the right reason and first praying then I am given the strength, by grace, to achieve it. I have on occasion, tried to fast without prayer and have failed.
There are many benefits to fasting and the benefit may be different for each person.
Here is one; imagine you are trying to resist some temptation, you start the day resolutely determined but we are fickle creatures and in a moment when we have forgotten our resolution the temptation appears and we succumb. Fasting puts you into direct contact with temptation, you learn to recognise it and become more immune to it.
there are some trivial benefits which includes that food tastes great when you stop fasting!
all the best urban

I am not good at fasting
One meal skipped and I would go crazy. Well, that's an exaggeration but, really, I would surely have a headache that would last for the rest of the day -- resulting to bad mood. I admire people who could do it for spiritual reasons. I think it takes a lot of determination and focusing on one's goal.

What's the purpose of your friend who fasts? I don't think I would want to try to fast at all. If I have the means to eat, why would I want to fast?? It's not a good feeling to be hungry and we get energy from the food we eat. If I don't eat for a day, i'll feel that my body have no strength too. Furthermore, excessive fasting would give rise to gastric problems.
It really depends what's the purpose of fasting. For example, i know that muslims during the hari raya period, they would fast for i think a month? i'm not sure how long but I know they will fast. whereby they will eat before the sun rises and can eat only when the sun sets.
I don't see the purpose in fasting because i want to be in optimal condition everyday. It's okay to skip a meal or two, but not eating for the whole day is out for me.

Fasting is usually done for spiritual reasons and not a good idea for dieting. Fasting can cleanse your soul as well as your body. It's like detoxification. But not just anybody can do it. I have read in a christian book that when a person decides to fast, he must be physically and spiritually ready or else there would be some bad consequences. When we are fasting our body will get weaker due to lack of food and as our body grow weak so can our spirits be. Thus it's an opportunity for the devil to attack.
This is what i have read in a Christian book and I'm a christian so i believe this.
