Great. Just great. Now my Melaleuca order is sitting in Missisauga, Ontario because Canada Post has stopped the operations. Bah Humbug! I reallyreallyreally wish the union workers will get their acts together and negotiate like human beings, not greedy animals! Come on, guys, mail is a basic human right, the oldest means of communication in the world. I'm just so mad now. I wish this whole bloody situation would get worked out ASAP! The freaking mail system is basically shut down nationwide! :-( This is straight from the horse's mouth - http://clients.infopost.ca/en/ (see how unreasonable the union workers are being???)

The meaning of the lockout is simple: It forces back to work legislation. This is what they wanted in the first place, and it's why they opted to go this route. Air Canada will be forced back to work due to their strike, why not Canada Post? I think mail delivery is far more important than an airline. Workers called into 680 News last night when they showed up at work and couldn't get in. This is hard for many people, my landlord will be on the picket line himself for a measly $30/day compared to his $24/hr wage if he was working. He's getting married in the fall and this is going to hurt that.

It definitely creates a messy situation to both sides of the striking issue as well as us mail customers. I really do hope negotiations will become successful this week, as there's a lot of people who are really upset.

Hi, I am new but I became very interested in what exactly happened. I will be happy to tell me. Looked at the article and will be happy to join in the topic.

Are you from Canada as well? How are you affected by the strike? I know that anyone who's on federal pensions will still get their cheques at the end of the month, and provincial welfare depts are making welfare cheques available for pick-up at the local offices, which is a good thing. Thank heavens for me I get everything direct deposit, except for the GST rebate, which is still by manual cheque. As far as my Melaleuca order, it's just sitting there in some dark room in Ontario collecting dust.

yup, Canada post is holding us Canadians hostage at the moment. i work for a non profit organization that relies on the mail for donations (we get a lot of donations from seniors who dont have computers. hopefully, it will end soon.)

Yeowch, that'll hurt your organisation for sure, well, everyone's being hurt. It's not Canada Post that's keeping us hostage, they ARE the federal gov't and they're using the lockout to force the union workers back to work.

I live in a country where we are victims of strikes every month. I have followed 3 strikes in all my life, not a lot, but I think that strike is an important right. This lockout is a media game. It is not new that a strike creates losses for the service... and for the workers ; it is not very innovative to try to make a strike unpopular with a lockout -- not speaking to the mention of "Canadian taxpayers" -- and it has never solved anything, though for the Post, it can force the two sides to find quickly an agreement. I wish it for your parcel.

Wow, strikes each month...sometimes I'm wondering if unions are taking things a tad bit too far, I've even gotten lively discussions on my personal facebook page from both sides. I do hope the lockout is a good move that the gov't is making, there really should be no need of these shenanigens.

Wow Masihi this has to be very disastrous and can imagine so much back up of mail and packages. The worse is that the longer it takes the worse it will get. As then they will be forced to rush everything out. Which will leave a lot of room for human error. Did not think it was possible they would actually shut down completely. I do hope it gets sorted out really soon.

Yes, same here!!!! And what really pisses me off is that the Labour Minister has just ordered the Canada Air Lines back to work today, and he didn't even say anything about Canada Post!!! To me, basic mail service is by far much more important than 1 single airline out of many, the labour minister needs to set our priorities straight.
