internet paypal scam

hello myloters, i am helping my father to sell his car in autotrade's website. recently i got an email from 5 interested client. they said they liked the car and they r willing to buy it but due to their work related reason they will not be able to collect themselves and will be sending some shipping company in their behalf to collect it. I find it weird as all of the interested people had same kind of interest and similar job and they all were not willing to collect themselves. BUT anyway i exchange email with all of them and when talked about the money they all wanted to send it by PAYPAL. surprise! surprise! all of them we telling they were out of town, in sea and are not able to wire money though internet BUT are willing to use paypal to send money. SO i gave my paypal address to one of them. Today i recieved an email from paypal saying deposit has been made BUT i checked it from my mobile so i thought it was just co-incidence that all will buyer had same kind of situation, work and interest. BUT later when i checked my email form computer i realised that it was a fake email pretending to be from paypal. the person had sent 300 pound more for shipping and wanted me to send it to his shipping company but this time he wanted me to send it form western union money transfer and the address was of Nigeria. LOL!! am so gutted that i was made fool but happy that i was able to realise it on time. am happy that it was me who was helping my father. if it was him, am sure he would have been the victim. Have any of you experienced something like this too?? Now am looking for a way to confront that person. I guess i will say same thing and ask for them to give paypal address to send the excess money :P Man! i do not know why people do this kind of stuff. they could have used mylot to earn some money instead of wasting their time n energy to fool people ;)

I'm also not aware of something like this before. If you think about it, there are a lot of ways to scam people. These scammers go way back. Frank Abignale, Otto Von Bismark, P.T. Barnum, etc.. These people are the pioneer con artists. Since then, con artists, or scammers as much preferred by most, improved dramatically almost proportionate to the improvement of our technology today. Their ways are just almost as good as the most modern technology and system we have now because they only utilize what they can get a grip of and use their minds, which are surprisingly sharp, to scam other people. Some, I guess, practice these sort of stuff because of the thrill of it or because they can simply execute it but I'm sure most are in it for the money. Compared to earning money online, as you've suggested, scamming people is really easy money if you ask me. You don't have to wait for 30 days just to earn $10 bucks or so. The money earned is huge and instant, that's the perfect dream if you ask me. Although if you're gonna earn it through dishonesty, I guess most will think twice about it. Most, not all.

yes it is short cut way of making money. conning people is not good thing. to tell you the truth my family has been victim of it. it was a bad experience for whole family. the relations, bond, trust, and everything were at risk. BUT i believe in karma, everything goes around comes around.

Yep, bad karma is your best bet for now. But have you reported them to authority? You should also take action.

There are any number of these scams coming out of Nigeria. Fake payments, fake cheques, shipping scams, stolen credit cards, stolen id's and account details, lottery scams, you name it, they do it. Recently, I got a mail saying I won $ 500000 in a Toyota lottery. How can one win a lottery without buying a ticket. Just for fun, I wrote to them, giving my phone number (and nothing else), and then they send a mail wanting me to pay $ 1000 for processing charges. That's where the scam begins. I've seen a few before, so I did not fall for it, but unfortunately, many people do!

I've had similar things happen to me on Ebay. I'd be trying to sell something and someone would hit the buy now option and the money would be sent to my pay pal. So I'd go out and buy the boxes and everything to send and then I would get an email from Paypal saying that it wasn't a "valid" transfer or something of the nature. It's really stupid, I think there should be an easier way to tell.

hello youaremylush i my case, i did not got email form paypal, they made and send fake mail looked like from paypal. that was when i knew it was scam. I once read in some forum that in paypal for buyers protection, if buyer make some kind of report or something they would get their money back and seller would not get the payment. i don't know what will happen to goods then .....
