Hey, so i'm just getting out of grade 12, i don't have a job (other then freelancing) and have little money. But i love to travel and wouldn't mind it being on a shoe string. Anyone have tips from past experiences of how to do this or any good links to visit for this? Extra details: Location: Ont. Canada. Money able to spend: unknown lowest as possible is preferable Company: going with 1-2 other people max (im guessing) Length of time: im thinking a week would be fun, maybe 2 max. Any ideas/suggestions/tips would be most appreciated.

I will tell you about when I was a young person and I wanted to travel but didn't have much money. I live in Europe so other countries are close to my home county. I saved up all the cash I got from my paper round then at 14 years old I traveled to Greece with my mom. At 16 years old I got a Saturday job in a shop. This let my save up enough to travel to the Netherlands with my friend when I was 17 years old. I really wished to travel around Europe by train but I wondered how I would be able to afford to do that. I found the ideal way to do that. I got a job as a children's nanny in Finland where I got a high wage. I went out there on a one way flight and came home using an inter rail pass. I stayed in youth hostels in a dorm bed. I wonder if you could find out your nearest airports, possibly Toronto. You could get a cheap ticket to America maybe New York State for example. If you want to stay in Canada you might like to visit Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. I know that would be very enjoyable and not too expensive. If you want a cheap price you could camp in a tent or get a bed in a dorm at a backpackers hostel. My best trip was to Mexico, Belize and Guatemala. I loved seeing the Mayan ruins and snorkeling around the coral reef. Traveling costs are low in a country like Guatemala. Good luck planning your trip and two weeks would be better than one because you could do more in that length of time.

woah sweet, thats amazing thanks for the ideas and personal experience connection. It's always much cooler listening to people who have friends who have done it or have done it them selfs. Thanks :D turns out this summer i cant travel (far) but in a year or two i should be set with a job and some time.

Lukem, I have a suggestion if you like to travel, you might want to get involved in a travel business. You can even earn passive income from it. if you like I would be able to show a business.

Well first you need money. Traveling doesn't come cheap unless your like me and your job pays you to travel. I get to travel once a month for a week to various states, but my job pays for it all so it is awesome. I love to travel as well.

I had friends that flew to Canada and then went backpacking for a few weeks. I think the only money they spent was on the plane tickets and food (bought at stores and fast food places). I think you're going to need more than mylot and other websites of the like give you. Don't you graduate at grade 12? I'm sure someone gave you grad money :P
