UP Manila's new policy requires the student to serve the country within five years after graduation.what do you think about this?

I think it is but right to serve their country first before self-gratification. Most of them have scholarships sponsored by the government. The return service program would be a way of showing their gratitude not only towards their Alma Mater but to their country as well.

I totally agree with you sweet pea. It's time to return the scholarship granted by the government, by working here in the Philippines and serving our fellowmen.
That's why i am so proud of my daughter because she doesn't want to work abroad but would like to just work here when she finally becomes a doctor. No need for the government to do that to her.

I wish we can have more graduates like your daughter Ms. D.
We do have a shortage of doctors here. Most of our best doctors are working overseas.
What is more gratifying than to serve your less fortunate countrymen.

we should commend up manila for thinking of something like this. there is nothing wrong with imbibing to students the value of patriotism. however, how can up manila keep tabs of the activities of their students after they graduate.
like i said earlier in my post, the purpose of up manila is commendable but how they can implement it remains their biggest hurdle and challenge.

I don't think it is a fair policy. Let the students decide what they want and where they want to be because these students badly need money also for their family. If they can give them good salary, then there would be no problem.
