Dinesh Karthik has been the backup wicket keeper of Indian team for past few years. he was also from Tamil Nadu and selector Srikanth always gave him many chances. So karthik was always picked in the absence of MSD. Now Dinesh Karthik is not getting the chance. He is not considered for the Backup Wicket keeper spot in Indian team. Do you feel that Dinesh karthik's International career has ended? Partiv patel has been performing well in his come back. now he is good in keeping and batting, so surely he can become the backup for MSD. And the only problem I find in him is that, he is not having big height(Karthik is also hot a person with big height), but height is a factor for wicket keeper, and Dhoni is having it. W.Saha is also their in the second order Indian team as a backup for partiv, so selectors have clearly avoided Dinesh Karthik. so what do you think,is selectors Harsh on Dinesh Karthik?? And who is the best backup wicket keeper for India? 1.partiv patel 2.Dinesh Karthik 3.W.Saha

Partiv Patel is a good batsmen ,he was not much good in the keeping earlier, but now he is improved his keeping skills very much. When comes the choice for a reserve keeper/backup keeper definitely he is the one will get the chance. He has grabbed the place of Karthik, Karthik is also good keeper batsmen. But patel is more consistent than Karthik. He is a good opening batsmen also. Partiv can get into the india team,if he is able to convert his 40 and 50s to big scores. Currently he is the Best backup wicket keeper available for India.

Surely it has to be Parthiv Patel. Dinesh Karthik is not as good at opening the innings as Parthiv. Although Parthiv is not a great WK, he can always be a reserve player and if India needs, can fill either the WK slot or an opener's slot. As far as W.Saha is concerned he is young and can be looked of as a good bet for the future.

so do you feel that dinesh karthik has lost his chances to play in International cricket! But I would have preferred Dinesh karthik inplace of W.Saha, simply to keep our backup more strong.

I believe that Dinesh Karthik has indeed played his last for India. The reason they have picked up W.Saha instead of Karthik is that he is a young player. Also KArthik is never likely to play when MSD and Parthiv are available. So might as well groom a youngster.

ya it will be very hard for karthik to come back into the side but he has a chance to do it as a batsman purely. because now a days he doesnt keep wickets much. in the recent ipl also he played as pure batsman and has done similar with indian team in the past also. but yes competition it too much and he will have to have a exceedingly great season and will have to play out of his skin.

I think Parthiv pattel and Saha is the right choice . I am not impressed with Parthiv in his wicket keeping skills. He droppes , he misses. This will cost us in the test matches. Saha is young and should be given more chances at-least in the test level.

I have already told that partiv and Karthik both are having some limitations. both are small in height, and its a set back for keeper. and in opening slot partiv suits more and in fielding point of view karthik suits more.Anyway its good that we have MSD as our main wK.

I don't think any of the current wicketkeepers in India has any major international career waiting for him in the future, because Dhoni is the India captain, and is likely to remain so for years to come. He is of a similar age as these guys, and by the time he retires, so will they. As a backup keeper, India would always prefer a keeper to be able to bat, so from that angle, I think Dinesh Karthik should be number one choice, with Parthiv a close second.

Ya surely, Dhoni is the captain, wicket keeper and good batsman of Indian cricket. he is our main wicket keeper, and we can only think about the backup, in that i think Karthik is the one we brought up and suddenly put down and shifted the interest towards partiv.Anyway both are comparatively same.

venkit,ya mate totally agree with your point. i think karthik was given many chances, one cant really say just because he is from tamil nadu but he has shown that character and that temperament in the start. he opened the inning for india in test matches, did same in odi's and had success. but was not able to sustain his position in the team. the good think about karthik was he was selected as a proper batsman rather than back up wicket keeper and he was able to deliver. he is lacking consistency and now a days struggling with his keeping also. actually he doesnt keep wickets much now days. in the recent ipl also gilchrist keeped the wicket and he was playing purely as a batsman. so karthik still does have a chance to come back in the team as a batsman and his keeping can be an additive. talking about parthiv patel ,i feel he was given a chance when he was not deserving(ie at the age of 17), and now after being in and out of the sqaud he has finally secured his place in the team as a back up keeper but its very hard for these players to get into the playing 11 unless ms decides something similar to sangakaara ie not keeping wickets and playing purely as a batsman and caption. for me i like karthik's flamboyance where patel has his calmness working for him. saha still has lot of things to prove and he too can give a touch fight. its good to have such a great battle between players and it speak volume about our bench strength. regards. keep mylotting. share your views. :)

surely, you said it rightly. but I feel that we have invested a big amount of time in karthik, and suddenly excluding him from the probable selection list is not at all good thing. Saha is emerging one can be picked later. and if we are selecting a second order team like that happened against wI, then there should be karthik and partiv, instead of partiv and saha. surely karthik is better than saha, and should have got a chance in this team that toured to WI
