Have you found that watching presidential debates, both for the primaries and the election, change your mind or reinforce your opinions about the candidates?

It has reinforced my opinion that we will never get a truly qualified person to run for office. So far there is no one making sounds of running that I would vote for. I will have to vote against everyone else by voting for the Least Horrible.

I watch the debates to learn more about the candidates and see where they stand. This last debate (CNN), didnt change my mind but I did learn a few more things about the candidates.

sam3m1, I try as a rule to watch the debates....both for the primaries and the main election. I find that I can learn more about the candidates by the way the answer the questions, their tone of voice, body language, facial expressions, etc. I also try to pay attention to how much, if any eye contact they actually make when giving their responses. So to answer your question, yes, watching the debates and seeing how the candidates handle themselves can and sometimes does either change or reinforce my opinions of the candidates. If they sidestep the questions, change their stance on an issue, or even refuse to make eye contact while answering, all these things can change my opinion in a very negative way. On the other hand, if they stand true to their beliefs regardless of public opinion in the state they are in, that can offer a positive reinforcement. It would be nice, however, to see a solid, trustworthy candidate in the GOP field, lol!
