"Positive things happens to positive people." I found this quote on someone's blog. Am I the only one who sees this as a negative statement or am I just so negative that I make it seem negative all on my own? HAH! I think this quote totally negates the negative people. Can't we give them a chance? I mean, they deserve some more chance than the positive people who've had positive things happen to them all their lives already. I mean, they even have the "gift" to be positive somehow. No, I'm just kidding. I know that I am not taking this quote as simple as it should be. It's to encourage people to be positive. I think, well at least I myself can be negative and positive at different moments in my life. I don't really know which I am as a whole cause things are changing all the time. And good things have happened to me when all hope were lost and the worst has happened to me when all hopes were high. In the mindset of my negative side, this quote is not encouraging at all... so I guess it's just there to make the positive people happy. Sort of like 'preaching to the choir'.

Well...yes..I guess it is encouragement for people to be positive. It's tough to be that sometimes...one of those easier said than done things. If it makes you feel any better..I don't think there is a lot of truth to it anyway..lol. I think that positive people are often disappointed more when things don't turn out to be positive.
I am actually pretty positive and have experienced the opposites that you described above too. I think that everyone is vulnerable to disappointments.

That is what the guy said when he wrote the book. It is trying to be positive, like a state of mind. I it is very realistic to realize we can't all be positive all the time. It is unhuman. I think this phrase is encouraging if you are in a frame of mind that can see things from a postive stanpoint.

This is true! But this takes a purely positive attitude.

I don't see this as a negative statement at all. I see it as very positive and I see a lot of truth in it.
People who have a negative attitude, draw negative energies toward them. Those with a positive attitude draw positive energy toward them. It's a karma principle. If we have a bad attitude, others will sense it and they will be less likely to want to help us and be around us. They may think that your negative attitude is aimed towards them and so they may even feel malice towards you. Another example is the opportunities we miss because we are too afraid or hopeless to take chances.
Also, when we look at the world with a positive attitude, we will see more positivity in the world. Those with a negative attitude can't "stop and smell the flowers" because they are so focused on the negative, they won't even notice the flowers.
I find this quote to be very encouraging. It reminds us that our attitude has a very big impact on our lives. The things that happen in our lives are secondary to how we choose to look at the things that happen in our lives.
When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change.

There is some evidence from things such as surveys that positive things do actually tend to happen to positive people and negative things tend to happen to negative people. This is either because positive people are more likely to notice and make a big thing about good things that happen while negative people tend to dwell on the bad things that happen to them. The other possibility is that positive people are more likely to try new things so have more experiences which could be good.

Then I guess, I am hopeless!
I am a bit of a pessimist, so I guess nothing good will ever happen to me. My mom keeps bugging me about this. She always says that I always have a negative point of view, so only negative things happen to me.
I agree that this statement is only for positive people.

This phrase can have mixed reactions. Its always good to be positive because it helps you to encourage yourself and also keeps you away from the negative feelings. Its difficult to understand as to how to thing positive when so much of negative things are happening around you. What can be derived for here is that so what if negative things are happening around does that mean by sulking or thinging negative things will improve or even change. NO its only with a positive frame of mind that things will get better and it also keeps us thinking in the right direction.
So hence forth no matter what the situation think positive think correct and good luck shall always be with you. No worries if things dont go your way beacuse just as happiness doesnt last forever same is the case with sorrows. They last for a short time and then vanish. Think positive.

"Positive things happen to positive people" Thats just a statement, its doesn't mean that positive things will happen to positive people only. Negative things will happen to them, but the advantage a person is having when he is positive is, he will not get depressed when something negative happens to him. He just accepts it positively. Negative thinking is also necessary. Life is a mixture of both positive and negative. Balance it out and we are okay, when the positive side is up we are happy and when the negative side is up we are not. From what I know, when I am about to do something, first it think about the negative side. It helps me to avoid the possible negative impacts that could happen when I am about to do such a thing and when I start doing it I think positively, so that I can survive in what I am doing.

I am more of a positive thinker though circumstances can cause me to be a bit negative from time to time. But I find my negativity is not based on my outlook, but more at the situation.
It does not take long to revert any negative energy at the moment, as long as I can remember all the beautiful upsides of life too.
Being negative all the time for me is not advisable, as then one does not have any wants to move forward as then what I see is dark areas for me with no hopes of progressing.

I think we can create our day and lives. There are times that I decide everything will be great, it always turn out to be so when I watched "The Secret" I saw that the negative is the same. The more I focus on negative things the more I see news, articles, people talking, like everything begins to be attracted...
I observe people too much and I truly have the feeling positive people not only have a better day than the rest of the humanity as also they deal with negative things in a better way, I even seen positive happy people to laugh off some gossip about their own! They are nice to be around and maybe they deserve (I'm not a 100% positive person, only when I'm aware, but I go back to negativity sometimes) because they are working to make their lives better. It's not easy to be positive.

I completely agree with you Lore, I have had the same thought because I think it's so silly when people say, I don't like negativity. That's two negatives - "don't like" and "negativity". So that person is a double negative - and when they say two negatives make a positive, it makes sense. It seems that the positive people are actually MORE negative than plain negative people! When you are fine with negativity, that means you must have both positive and negative. Neither cancels the other out, so you get a bit of both in your life. Don't fall for that stupid quote about positive positive positive blah blah.. it's BS!

you are in way right on your perspective. But being positive is not only a manner of like the "IN" thing right? it should come from within and generates good aura so to say. Well, being positive draws a lot of strings to your life, not only to you but the people that surrounds you. Take it from me, I was brought up by my parents to be positive all the time. Even if it's mind wrecking negative? Oh, I will make sure and see to it that at the end of the day, there's a positive remark that will linger on my mind. I know that it's not easy but it takes a lot practice and you'll do good!:)
