Crazy people.: Are they aware they are crazy?

By crazy, I mean clinically diagnosed as "mentally deranged". Are they aware that they are crazy? Do they even know that they are "sick"? Is it possible that they are happier than "normal" people?

Alot of people don't admit to mistakes on their part. You're right it's easier to point out other people's mistakes.

or maybe the people itself doesn't notify their own mistake, as it is very easy to notify other's mistake.... same as Crazy idea....

I am crazy and I know it! I think it depends on the type of mental condition whether the sick would know if he/she is crazy or not. I believe some of them are just pretending to be crazy to escape from cruel reality.

No, they don't think they are crazy. They think everyone else is. They haven't a clue. I think they are happier than normal people because the don't feel the responsibilities or the stress of everyday life. They don't hold back and tell you to your face that you are bad. Alot to be said for that.

It is hard if you think everyone around you is crazy.. But then, maybe they can just laugh about it. Afterall, the most important thing in life is to be happy and be contented (atleast that is what I think).

That is very important. I think the crazies live in a world of their own.

Same question coming to my mind. In my simple explanation for them of what they feel as being crazy i think they are happy like what we see. They dont care what is happening around them or they remain to the feeling of what is the cause of their craziness as mentally ill. Like for example too much sadness or angry and many things that their emotions cannot handled properly by their minds. maybe they stopped the life there and don't know what is happening to them. So hard to think to be like them as we are now normal. Like the other aspect of mental retardation and this is another case of being abnormal. Most of them are inborn mentally retarded and they don't know the real life existing on earth. All they know is what the life they saw when they are born here. They have their own life to do.

If someone is diagnosed as being mentally or clinically deranged or crazy, the person themselves would have no knowledge of how sick they are, since their brains do not function as a normal persons brain does. As far a being happier than a normal person that would solely depend on just how sick they really are. Most crazy people go around oblivious to the world around them and therefore take no pleasure in the things a normal person would. They are basically in a world of their own and if this at times makes them happy,we have no way of knowing just what causes this. Of course being clinically deranged, the person is very capable of doing many bad things but yet, feeling no remorse or guilt feelings for their actions since in all respects, they don't even realize what they've done or the consequences involved due to their actions.

Crazy people do not know that they are crazy. But here is a crazy theory, what if the crazy people are the normal people and we are the crazy ones. Wouldn't that be something? But who's to say what crazy really is.

That is actually what I am thinking about. Kinda like dreams and reality. Who is to say which is real and which is just a dream.

Before you throw around such labels as "mentally deranged" & "sick", I think you need to do MORE research!!! PLUS, WHO decides what is crazy & what is not??? I despise the label "normal"!!! It appears to me that EVERYBODY thinks they are "normal" & it is ONLY when enough "normal" people join together that they decide what is going to be "acceptable"!!! Society decides what is "acceptable" & I've lived long enough to see that acceptability change MANY times over!!! When I was young, it was considered "acceptable" to beat your child for not being "normal". Then when enough children who had been beaten grew into adults, it was determined that it is "unacceptable" to beat an "abnormal" child. Smoking used to be considered "normal". but now it is considered "crazy". When I went through my first bout of clinical depression, yes I was aware that I was going crazy. Then I reached a point that it felt "normal" for me & I no longer felt crazy. That's when friends & family I had been voicing my concerns to began to call me crazy!!! So, NOBODY saw me as crazy until I had gotten to the point that my craziness became normal for me. I had a cousin who was considered crazy back before the "experts" came up with a solution & she was given "shock therapy" until she was a vegetable & that was considered "acceptable" practice at the time. She used to beg them to not shock her as she would try & do better, but nobody would listen to her!!! Eventually, she ended up a vegetable who bothered NO ONE & even her family stopped visiting her. I believe that if we were raised that the so-called "crazy behavior" was normal, then "normal" people would be considered "crazy"!!!

Maybe they're aware of it but they just didn't wanna phase out. I wouldn't really know, only a crazy person would know, I guess. Although some say I'm crazy.

Crazy people as in mentally ill people are not aware that they are crazy otherwise they wouldn't be called crazy at all. I knew someone who was mentally ill and was later healed after a few months and he claimed that he knew everything that he did but the thing is he doesn't know how to control himself, he just claimed that he kept on hearing voices in his head to do this and that. I think the term used is schizophrenia, some sort of a temporary insanity caused by stress. I don't think that they can be called happy people since happiness that you can't enjoy can't be called happiness. I think crazy people who looks happy and laugh at nothing aren't happy people, they're crazy and they need help.

when it comes to mental illnesses, there are too plenty of categories... how about a dog wearing a dress of a human? or a girl wearing a dress of man male? or a male wearing a dress of a female? or a man wearing cow's skin as a dress? nyahahahaha

hi, i am not a crazy person but for me i think they dont know that they are crazy and they all know that they are normal people,i just noticed this in the movie that when a psychologist ask them a question like "are you crazy" they will answer it by "no" and they all know is they are normal.

Mentally ill people normally know they are ill. They are also not diagnosed as Mentally Deranged. Depression, Bipolar are some more common terms. With every mental illness, there are good days and bad days. Please consider doing some research on this topic. I truely believe it would benifit you. Best Wishes!

Yes, but I was just talking about those "mentally deranged" people. Because they seem to be the worse case among mental illnesses.

well what do you mean by crazy? Maybe they are not really sick? I mean, it's just a different state of mind - so why is it considered sick? if a person's brain chemistry is different, that's just a different body. I think they could be happier than normal people if normal people would stop pestering them and telling them they're crazy!

for what i know.... NORMAL people is a retarded people.... a true NORMAL people is the people that are capable of 50 percent normal and 50 percent remaining abnormality.... frequently heard claiming "Nobody people are perfect" that in every object, if there is a light bright side, there are always the presence of shades.... as i notice that the crazy people begging money in the street side, they also know how to cross the road to safety, meaning, they are not that crazy, they are pretending to be crazy for the public to give some penny to them.... hehehehe

I can not know, all i have to say is an opinion actually and well i think since they are mentally incapacitated them i would assume that they are not aware of their current situation. And maybe they do think of something but only that they sure have their own world, something only they are aware of.

who knows? i do not think that they have a clue. 'crazy' people, the demented ones, and not those that are in the middle, could not probably even identify happiness from loneliness. i believe they do not have any idea. and maybe in their own world, we are the crazy ones.

From what I understand anyone who is "crazy" would not know it is outside of the norm. I don't think they understand to be ill therefore, no way to understand what really is normal for them. Normal though as per psychologist does not exist, it is simply a label society has been accustomed to use.

Crazy is a relative term. And all my relatives are crazy!(joke) Our thinking is part of our cognitive development. We put our thinking selves together to believe certain things about the world. We believe these things are true and work to continue to defend these beliefs against all comers. As long as those beliefs are not challenged by others we are happy and secure in our world. When those beliefs are challenged by external forces, we are in conflict and/or considered crazy depending on the degree of challenge. People with psychological issues continue to behave as if the challenge doesn't exist or they fight the challenge in ways that are not safe or socially acceptable. People with psychological problems generally know they are outside the norm and are insecure and scared about what is happening around them. They act out to re-establish personal security. I don't see them as being happy people. I would guess they are profoundly unhappy.

Don't act crazy. If crazy people knew they were crazy, then they would not be crazy. They would be sane, like you and me. Yes I do agree that they could be happier than normal people as they are in their own world but then again, they could be even more sad than others like us.
