I am so excited, I have actually lost 62 lbs, in the last 6 months. I have been eating right and doing everything the doctor has asked of me, but now it seems that I am in a stuck point, for the last week or two I don't seem to move from the same weight. I don't understand what I am doing wrong.
Maybe I shouldn't even be complaining, the fact is that I have actually lost a lot of weight. I am so happy and excited with myself, I have cleaned out my closet, I am fitting into cloths that I have weared in 3 years. I used to hate shopping, now I love it again. I stopped taking medications for my diabetes and blood pressure. That was a relief, but I still have to lose a few more pounds, but like I said it seems like I am going now where.
Has this ever happened to you, that all of a sudden you just stop losing weight, even though you are still doing everything the same exact way?

Hello fabs precious.
I have acctually encountered this as well, 3 years ago.
I have gone from 92 kg down to 74 in about 9 months, and after that i stopped loosing as well. I now have to loose weight again, having too much again, about 95-96. I did loose about 3 from last year, but i have a long way down to 80 (or at least 85).

I know exactly what you mean, I have done numerous diets in the past and to be perfectly honest with you this has been the most successful so far. I have actually lost the weight and maintained it. I feel great, I haven't felt like this in years. But now it seems like I am not loosing anything, for the last week I have been on the same weight and haven't lost a lb. But on the bright side I haven't gained anything either. So at least their is an upside.

Congratulations on the weight loss. It seem a lot of people that have loss weight get to a stand still point where their not losing as much or none at all. I can' remember what the reason for that is. I am thinking maybe our bodies get more resistance to losing the weght that it makes the last litlte bit harder to lose.

Thank you!
Apparently I have actually hit what they call a "Plataeu", at least that's what most people have been telling, but it's weird out all the diets in which I have done in the past, this is the first time this has ever happened, but then again, I have never lost this amount of weight. I just hope I get past this stage, because according to my doctor I still have to lose at least 30 to 40 lb in order to be in my idea weight. So I hope this "plataeu" doesn't take to long!!!

Happens all the time to people. Sometimes you just need to change your routine a bit and try a different type of exercise to get your heart pumping again...

I have been trying, I have changed a bit my diet, but unfortunately my excercise habits are a bit difficult to adjust with my schedule. But at least this week I lost 2 lbs, which is good. At least I am not stuck in the same number.

I wanna cry on enviousness haha i wanna lose weight so bad. congrats to you! i think there's nothing wrong. maybe you need to step up on the exercise your doing or something like that because i think that your regular workout and diet is just maintaining your weight. ask you doctor. i don't think something's wrong though. :)

You probably are right I might need to step it up a notch, but it is difficiult with my schedule between work, school and my children it does get difficult to excercise, but I will definitely take that into consideration.
Thanks!!!

This will always happen unless you change your diet/excersize program again.
When you start tapering off and even freezing your weightloss, or gain if thats your goal, all it means is that you body has found a balance. If you wait to lose more your going to have to reevaluate you exercise regiment and or diet.
To be a little more descriptive, it takes your body X amount of calories to do everything it needs to do everyday. If you eat less than that you will lose weight. As you lose weight your body doesnt need to work as hard so it doesnt need as many calories. Thus you lose weight slower and slower until you stop losing all together... unless you exercise more or change your diet.
Dont fret happens to everyone. In fact you should be happy. You have just entered the next step into being fit.

Thanks for the information.
I have done diets before in the past, maybe not as inducive has this particular one, but I have never encountered this part of the diet before. I was starting to worry if it was something I was doing wrong, but you are right, maybe I just need to change things up a bit and even do more excercise. I shouldn't be complaining I think I have lost a good amount of weight, but I need to loose a few more lbs at least that's what my doctor says.

I agree. You have to tweak your diet or eating plan as you go along.. like with weight watchers, they decrease your calories about every 10 pounds or so to keep you from plateauing... they are on the point system.. but the result is the same.

Congratulations Fabsprecious! You aren't doing anything wrong.. your body has hit a plateau.. you may need to decrease the calories a bit or increase your exercise... Once our bodies reach a set point where the intake of calories equals the output, then the weight will remain constant... you will just need to adjust the math a little bit by decreasing some of the calories you take in... or burn more calories than you take in by increasing exercise. Sometimes a small change will make a big difference.
It's also normal for the body to take a rest from losing weight, so a 2 or 3 week stall.. or even a couple of months is not uncommon to stall out.. I'd decrease the calories by substituting with more fruit and veggies in the diet and less of the more dense foods.

Thank you for providing me with this information, I wasn't aware that the body could actually hit a plateau. I have done diets in the past before, but this is the first time this has ever happened. You right I am definitely going to have to do something either decrease the amount of calories or increasing my exercise. Actually to be honest, that is basically what I have been eating salad, veggies and fruits, I have actually avoided red meats, which is something I love and eating more chicken and fish.

Well, you are doing great! I think this summer I will eat more fruits and salad plates and leave off the red meat. I might just eat meat occasionally again. I like things like peaches and yogurt. I like salad and pears and cherries. You have given me an idea for the summer. Thank you.

I actually to be honest with you, I never thought I would've made this far and lost all the weight I have lost in the amount of time. To be honest with you all I have been doing is more protein like fish and chicken trying to avoid red meat of course once in a while I'll have some type of red meat, but not as often as I used to in the past. I have been avoiding carbs, eating more fruits and yogurts and snacking every 2 or 3 hours. But I think the most important thing has been that I have had the support of my hubby, he has also lost a significant amount of weight as well, and helping each other and motivating each other has been this dieting plan a bit more easier than in the past.

Congrats on your weight loss, I think that's an excellent achievement!!
Yep, that's normal to be stuck at a certain weight for about a few weeks to 2 months, depending on the individual, it's called a plateau. Your body's just used to what it has been doing for the past 6 months and has adjusted (biologically) to it. But as long as you continue to eat properly and obey doctors' orders, then you should be fine, eventually your weight will decrease until it's at a normal weight range.
This link is from the Mayo Clinic, which explains various health issues. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/weight-loss-plateau/MY01152 It explains in detail what a plateau is and how to move beyond it.
Best of luck in continuing your weight loss journey :-)

To be honest with you, I have heard mention the phrase "plateau" when it is referred to in diets, but I never really understood the concept and I never thought I would reach it. I was under the impression since I have been losing weight for such a period of time that I would never get to this point, but here I am. I am considering talking to my doctor and explaining the situation and hopefully he can direct me, since I am following his plan, I don't want to make any changes I am not suppose to. But you are probably right eventually I will continue to loss the weight and reach my goal.

Well done is very nice.
I am very glad for you.
Now the most important thing is to keep those pounds.
Importantly, however, you feel much better.
Have a nice day!

Thank you, I am very proud of myself and my hubby, both of us have lost a significantly amount of weight, and with his support I have been successful. You are diffently right, the most important part is maintain the weight off. You have no idea how many diets I have done in the past and in a few months I have gained all the weight back and at times even more. But so far I have been able to keep the weight off, and I am feeling great!!!

You are right, I should stop complaining, I have accomplished losing 62 lbs in a good amount of period, I should be greatful that at least I haven't gained any of the weight back. I am definitely going to continue working at this, but I am considering talking to my doctor to see what advise he has or if I should maybe do changes to my current diet.
Thanks for the words of encouragement!!!

I definitely have to agree it is difficult to loose weight, put if you put your mind, dedication and most importantly have the support of your loved ones, you could be successful. I think now that I am a mother I was more serious about this whole diet think, because I was mostly thinking about my children. My health was also a concern with my diabetes, but luckily it has stabilized a lot, I am still boarder line, but my sugars have been awesome and my bloodwork has shown the my sugars levels have lowered.
I will definitely continue this program, but it gets a bit fraustrated when you are stuck in the weight for about a week or two and you don't seem to go any where.

Firstly fabsprecious I would like to say congratulations!!! You have done so well.
Don't beat yourself up about being stuck at this weight. Think positive... You haven't gained any weight.
I have been lucky in life and weight has never been an issue. In fact at points in my life I have been considered seriously underweight and on plans to gain it again.
I'm unsure what advice to offer you in regards of losing more... perhaps doing a litle more exercise than you are at presant? I don't know if that is a possibility for you?
I wish you all the luck in the future and I am sure you will reach your goal in time. xxx

Thank you!!!
You are right, even though I haven't lost anything at the same time I haven't gained any weight and that is the important part. I have been excercising at 3 to 4 times a week, and believe me I have been trying to push myself to do more, but between work, school and my children it gets exhausting and it seems I have no time at all. I should try and push myself a bit more, but at the same time I don't want to over do it and over exhaust myself. I'll try to increase the amount of time I work out and hopefully that will make the difference.
