Do you tip well when it comes to eating at restaurants? The other night, my friends and I went to a dine in burger joint where the decor is fine, the server was okay, all she did was take our order (drinks/burgers) deliver them to us and that's it. Our bill came out to be $50 for $4 people, would you tip the fair, good, high for a burger place? Honestly, I feel that for a burger place, tip should be bare minimum because it's not like at a restaurant where the decor is luxurious, food takes longer to prepare. What do you think? How do you tip? Do you tip differently when eating at a burger joint dine in then a nice luxurious restaurant?

I tip well if the service is good. I find that if the service is not good then I do not like to tip . I would tip differently in a burger joint than I would in a fine restaurant. I think it is important to let the server know that they done a good job.

well I think the server should be tipped based on his/her service to you. Did they bring your food correct and hot in a fairly resonable time/? did they come back to see if everything was ok and check if you wanted refills on drinks, desert...etc. I dont think the tip has anything to do with luxury the resturaunt is not getting the tip the waitress that gets 3.50 an hr is getting the tip. but if the resturaunt is "qaulity" they are most likey allready charging a gratuity (tip) on the bill. I tip well if the server is quality otherwise I dont.

I don't go out to eat that often; first, the economy is reeking havoc on my finances and second, I don't think the sanitation in most out-to-eat places are good. However, when I do go out to eat,I do leave a tip, but it is almost always less than the recommended percentage. If no one went out to eat, the restaurant would close and the server would be out of a job, with no tips to count. So, going out to eat helps everyone when you think about it.

This all depends on the service i get from the restauaraunt. if i feel it is worth it, I am more than willing to give a good tip in return. If you ignored me through my meal, don't expect to see a huge tip on the table!

Hi infatuatedbby, In my opinion TIP means to ensure pure services,if the service of restaurant or burger joint is good enough then there is no point of not giving the tip. But then it depends on person to person some people don't like & say we have paid for the food we took then whats the need to pay tip.I am also not very good when it comes to paying tip because i never get satisfied with the services. I always go out after having food in anger from any of the restaurant.

I don't tip, it supports the system of tipping instead of paying waiting staff a decent wage all the best urban

I usually tip really well, regardless of the restaurant. I know that these servers depend on their tips for part, if not most, of their income since they usually make minimum wage. If they are friendly and do a great job, I usually tip 20 - 25%. Rarely I get a not-so-good server, but I still tip 10 - 15%. I am an easy going customer and I'm not a complainer, unless something is really bad. So, if the server does his/her job, they will get some sort of tip from me, but it depends on how well they do on how much they will receive.

Generally I am a good tipper and does not matter if the restaurant is upper class and or not. I usually always keep in mind that when I go out that I can also afford a tip. We also have a customary percent as to what the tip should be and I do go over the tip amount if the service was great. See what matters to me is the service and here most waiters/waitresses only earn the tips. Therefore, if the service is spectacular I feel tipping well is a good thing to do for me. Especially the higher end restaurants here will add in the gratuity expected to the bill.

I will say no. I never practise it even at hotel. No matter how good it is, tips is just not my practise. Why? As everything we pay are in the package. The people that make business are very smart and try to ripped us off as much as they can. Believe me or not, we even pay for their taxes. Here are a few reason why we shouldn't pay tips; 1. We already pay for our food and servies. 2. We pay for their taxes 3. We pay for their employee salaries, eg. waiters, cooks, cashier 4. We pay for their rent or buliding mortgage 5. We pay for their car and houses 6. We pay for their insurances 7. We even pay for their vacation 8. It is the duty of the employer to reward an outstanding employee not a customer Due to this reason, I really feel we shouldn't given tips. Afterall it is all ina package.

I just give tips when I felt I really have to. If I was really impressed by the way I was served or I am satisfied with the food, I usually give but if not, no way. I only give appreciation to the deserving ones.

Oh yeah. I tip much better at a nicer restaurant. It's better service and food! I find at nicer places the staff is more helpful and they deserve to get more.

I think no matter where did you eat, as long as the server was okay, fast service and the place was nice, you should give the tip. Usually, I give the servant 1 or 2 dollars
