Im currently 37 weeks pregnant, and will soon be a CS mom again in two weeks time, more or less. I am terribly worried about my condition right now because I lose my sense of smell for two weeks already, i am deeply worried and depressed because I experienced this situation for the first time in my who;e life. I can't take all the medications my EENT gave me for I have a baby inside me to take care and look for. I researched about this condition and it was Anosmia which is a condition wherein any one who suffered from this loses his sense of smell. It drives me crazy, can't sleep at night too that's why im worried about my baby, but I can't help it. Did you knew someone who have this? What happened to his/her condition, pls share....thank you so much...

Does this also mean you can't taste as well? As far as I know the sense of smell and taste are connected. You hadn't mentioned that so I was curious.
Please don't worry too much. You're fast approaching the due date and the last thing that your baby wants is a worried mother. I'm not sure if I've known someone who lost their sense of smell while pregnant, but I'm sure that I've heard of worse conditions. Either way, they still turned out great and healthy!

Thank you so much redmaryjane... I still could taste food but it greatly diminished a lot, I can't eat really but I have to. I tried not to worry too much but I simply can't. I cried and worried most of the time, I guess Im just so afraid that this sense I take for granted for the longest time will be sorely missed when its already gone. Thank you so much for the encouragement... I will still keep in touch the moment I give birth to my baby boy... God bless!

Hi jinjer168, I know this is really horrifying for you but try not to worry as this type of condition is temporary. Once you have delivered, your sense of smell will be back just as it was gone! When I was pregnant, I lost complete sensation in my left wrist and fingers and thought I would never be able to use that hand again. But after delivery, it returned to normal. So just bear and wait! All the best!

Really? YOu bring so much hope in me... I do hope that this will happen to me too. I am deeply worried and sad all the time. I cannot sleep at night though I try my best to do so that's why I really felt dizzy every morning. I cried most of the time, its really hard to lose something that Ive taken for granted for the long time. I have no choice but to wait, hope things will turn out alright for all of us.. Thanks a lot and God bless...!

All I can say is thank you so so much... I am nearing my delivery, In fact I slept in the hospital last night because of high blood pressure, when my bp goes down, the doctor discharge me for my baby's not yet ready and much better to stay inside my womb for the next couple of days rather than delivering him early, anyway, my bp is now under control. YOur idea is perfect and I will do that, for sure it will help me a lot rather than crying and worrying so I got overly stressed evryday. God bless, thank you again my friend....

That's sweet of you jinjer, I am glad that it brings hope to you... All I can say to you now is that excessive worrying will only worsen your condition and is also not good for you at this point. Try to stay happy and rest well. You can read some good and humorous stuff to help you get over your worries, watch comedy movies and shows or do something that you really like and enjoy to do. Now is pretty much a good time to pick up something that you always wanted to do but could not, because once the baby comes you will have absolutely njo time for yourself. So chin up and cheer up. Pamper yourself and get pampered by your family and friends, things will definitely turn out good!

jjionjer for one thing your eent doctor knows you are pregnant so would not give you any medication that would harm your baby but could diminish or cure this temporary condition and thats why you went to her or him is it not?peple get carried away now days on this anti medication kick forgetting that they do not have the training their doctors worked hard to get so if their doctors knowing they are pregnant want to protect them from some condition give them medication know it has to be safe or they would not have prescribed it.I have read that a lot of weird conditions pop up in our pregnancies but are only temporary. i would talk to your eent person again and the pharmacist too. let them help you.

I have never experienced this problem during pregnancy. Most of the time during pregnancy my sense of smell is heightened. I do hope that your doctor will take care of the situation for you and that it is not something permanent.

I do know anyone who have had this kind of health issue. As for me I do loose my sense of smell when I suffer from malaria disease, I can not feel the smell of even those good food I loved and used to eat. I also lost eating appetite and I can not recognized the smell of food. The sympton remain with me for a long time and it disappears with time as soon as I recover from the malaria.
So when I am attacked by malaria I loose my sense of smell and sense of taste. Like I said, the sense of smell comes back only when I am free from the sickness of malaria.

SO how are you now? I really didn't knew that this really happened. All I knew is that, when I have a cold, I do have loss of smell for a little time only. But now, its really killing me because im having this for two weeks already. Yes, me too, I have a little sense of taste as well. For how long do you experience that and hope you will never have to suffer again...
