I just bought a new Asus EeePc netbook yesterday. (still excited to use)
I am just wondering for those Asus owners, how long is the battery life of your Eepc? I have just realized there are some options you have to click in order to save the energy of your netbook, lengthening it battery life.
This is the first time I am using the battery and am yet to prove if this netbook's battery can last up to 6 hours.

Many people don't know how to get the best out of their batteries not only in the ways to conserve power while you're using it but how to look after a battery so that its useful lifetime is longer.
Newer laptops have lithium based batteries but older ones will have nickel based ones. The ways of maximising the life of each is quite different. The older nickel based ones benefit from being completely discharged every so often but this is not necessary and not advisable with lithium batteries.
If you are not using the battery for a while, you should store it charged to about 40% capacity. Storing them fully charged or completely discharged will shorten the life of the battery.
There are a number of things you can do to conserve battery power whilst using the PC. Things like reducing the screen brightness may be fairly obvious but how many people remember to switch off wireless connectivity when they aren't using it? Anything that reduces the PCs CPU usage and use of the hard disk will also save a lot of power. Make sure that you only have the background processes that you need showing in your system tray and, if you can, make sure that your PC has the maximum amount of RAM installed. This will reduce Window's need to use the hard disk as virtual memory.
All of these tips (and many more) are on this Microsoft page which everyone with a laptop ought to be familiar with: http://www.microsoft.com/atwork/maintenance/battery.aspx

Awesome tips my friend. I have just discovered some battery-saving tips in my asus. It also mentioned that I should lower the brightness if I have to. Then there's an option (power saver) that I will just have to tick.
So far, my battery reached 6 hours. Meanwhile, I think I will utilize electric power more often especially when I'm just at home so I can prolong its battery life.

On standby mode it could last up to 6 hours, but if you're browsing the net or doing some work, it could only last up to 4 hours as most laptops do. It would even take less if you watch a movie or use YouTube.
If you want to conserve your battery I have one advice for you. If you're just staying at home, remove the battery pack and just use the DC. Only use the battery pack when you're travelling. In that case you can extend the battery life of your laptop.

Netbooks, typically, claim a longer battery power than notebooks. Many quote 8 hours (presumably when in use and under their own 'ideal' conditions). A lithium based battery should keep its charge for a very long time when stored, of course!
I suspect that the factory estimates of battery life are 'optimistic' but there are certain things that one can do (which most people don't) to increase battery life such as reducing the screen brightness, turning off the wireless connectivity when it's not in use and keeping disk access to a minimum by installing the maximum amount of RAM.

6 hours????
maybe it's a netbook as what you said...
i have an ASUS notebook, but the battery lasts up to 2 hours and 30 minutes running in a maximum power mode....
for almost more than 1 year, the battery never wears out.....
ever since before and up to now, the battery still runs at 2 hours and 30 minutes....
