There are two sections of people; one earn to live and another live to earn. I think that these are the two sections of people in addition to which there may be some other sections of people which I am not aware of. To which section do you belong or do you know the existence of any other section of people to which you belong? Would you kindly share it with us in this forum of mylot?

Your question reminds me of live to work or work to live. I might say that I am earning to live and not living to earn. There is a life to live and while it is important to earn one must not forget that living does not mean simply to kill oneself to do the impossible. Therefore, while it is okay to earn and earn big one should always remember that there are caring people in our lives for which there are not guarantees they will be here tomorrow, therefore, we cannot forget to repay their generous time with us and take time out to be with them from time to time.

Hi Hardworkinggurl, I think one must have balance. We need the finances in order to have a certain type of lifestyle, but at the same time, we don't want to be work a holics either. I'm kind of in between.. I don't like feeling burned out so I go with just trying to stay balanced.

I belong to live to earn while my father earn to live. I seen him struggling so hard to raise me and my brother and he will pampered us both to make us satisfied. I really want to repay my father's kindness and mom too who brought me here 30 years ago.

I'm reminded of Rich Dad, Poor Dad's "work for money, or learn to make money work for you."
I earn to live, but I yearn to be the other.

Life is difficult and money is essential for us to sustain. So I belong to earn to live. Sometimes, I feel very tired of working so hard, no relax time. I am always wondering what is the true happiness.

I think I live to earn, but I am balanced. I am retired so I have a pension.. but I also work at home and make part of my living that way. It makes it a lot easier to do the things you want to do when you live to earn. If you only earn to live, you might not enjoy life that much because you are always thinking about having to work.

Hi there,
When I read live to earn, it sounds as if someone only works and works and does not take anytime out to live. I agree with what you stated above. Balance is the key. We must certainly earn to live but we must not forget that there is a life to live too. Therefore, learning to balance the two is quite important.
There is no point in working, working and not taking a moment to live when everything around us does not halt and wait for us. Therefore, I agree about balancing in life. Where I am living yet also earning.

I earn to earn and live to live...
Why confuse life by living to earn or earning to live...

This is pretty true. It's like which came first, the chicken or the egg. People will go on and on and it just gets really confusing. Just accept the way things are now and try not to analyze too much. Great answer Raven!

When I saw this question, I straight away answer 'of course is earn to live'. I come to the world is to live, not to earn. How to live? We need food and drinks. All these need money to buy. That's why I need to earn in order to live. 'Live to earn' sounds like you come to the world is nothing but just to earn.

I'm a member of the group of people that earns as a means to be able to live. The reason that I am like that is because of the fact that I am a person that has always been a very modest person. I don't have a lot of material objects and I don't have the desire to have a lot of material things in my life. I need money to ensure that we have the necessities and I do like to get some things for my children, but we don't need anything fancy.

hi, its that both are needed, One should live to earn and earn to live.If we live then only we can earn ,if we want to earn then we should live.So to live for today we should earn yesterday. As we are living today we can earn for tomorrow. Its simple.

If someone is earn to live, then I would think that he is really suffering from getting a good earning, he will need to work all the time and I don't think I will want to be into that situation. I would prefer to invest in something that I do not need to rely on earning to live but I will have extra to support my needs. So, I consider my self to not in the either category. Live to earn will be another type of suffering type. Why do someone need to live to earn? I do not want to live because I want to earn. So, that will not be my choice too.
There are another type that I know of is either your work for money, or money work for you. So that is more applicable to many people where many people are work for money and when they are rich, and if they know how, then money will work for them.

Well i am essentially a person who earns to live, because i do not force myself to earn money sacrificing other things in life. I go out on vacations, enjoy with friends, spend a good time reading books etc. and money is never my priority against life.
I am surely n the former category.
Have a nice day!

in my view there another kind of people those who live to learn and not earn.they have dreams to be made true.they want to live forever in the minds of people.they feel no difference for money.earning is a good art.but that can't be the reason to live.

Being a single mom and no child support I earn to live. It's a hassle to get help from the state far as cash assistance to I work my hardest to provide for me and my daughter.

i earn to live^^ im not rich at all and if i got rich i would help a lot of people. i wouldnt want a lot and a lot of money to use only for myself. i honestly say this. the truth is that we dont know till when we will be alive. so we should use our money when we really need. why will we save so so much and give up of things we really like? its ok to save some for our future but earn to live thats too bad.. we shouldnt live just to get rich.. people say that the saying: money is not everything is a lie bcs we all need money to survive, well is true we need it, but if we live only to get money we will miss the best things in life, like love and frienship.

I think i am both, I earn to live as most people does but I also live to earn but make it as enjoyable and pleasant as possible and not become merely a slave of living just to make money, whether it is live to earn or live to earn, the most important thing is live to be happy in this short life, live for others besides your self is true happiness for me. Share what you can spare is one of the most fulfilling things we can do in this borrowed time God gave us.
