I am a lover of Greek mythology. I can watch the movie Clash of the Titans over and over again. I recently saw the 2010 version of the movie and was equally as satisfied as the 1974 version starring Harry Hamlin.
I like the spin they put on the new version. Much more modern and exciting although the danger from both was very close in proximity. My sister says she didn't like the second one, however I beg to differ.
I don't know what movie she was watching but I thought the director and story writer did an excellent job.
I think you can't watch a remake of a movie with the same expectations from the original. You must remain open minded. Would anyone else agree?

Hi writergirl74,
I am open minded when it comes to all remakes but I have yet to see one yet that has bettered the original. The new Clash of the Titans did not have the same charm as the older one. I think the stop motion effects in the original wiped the floor with the CGI in the new one. I have seen sequels that were surperior or equal to the original but I am still waiting for a remake to be better than the original.

thezone, yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I guess after that being said, it's left to personal taste. I agree with you on the charm of the first, and I think the first was more about heroism than the second. The ladder of the two seemed more about revenge and vindication. I still have to say I liked them equally though.

oh my goodness, yes, i thought the same exact thing about bubo...plus i thought the stidgeon witches seen in the second one was superior...i like how the witches had the nerve to try and attack with all of them standing right there...i was on the edge of my seat.
The medusa in this was also superior...i actually liked the look of her in this one as opposed to the former movie and she was somewhat more horrifying, but this is the 2010 version. I suppose in 1974 they weren't trying to be too graphic, lol.

I don't remember the original anymore although I may have seen it when I was a kid. I think the recent version is okay and entertaining enough, although I would've wanted to see more battles against huge creatures. People can't help but make comparisons in cases like this. They have, after all, basically the same story, just different versions and interpretations.

Very true silentwill...I just couldn't see how my sister liked the first one and couldn't wrap her thoughts around the second at all. The movies story lines were to close for her to just flat out say she didn't like one. In my opinion, it's almost if you like one, you like the other.

I also love Greek mythology. That is why I usually get excited when there are new movies pertaining to Greek mythology. I did not watch the original movie. But I think the new Clash of the Titans was very good. I liked the effects, the cast, and the storyline. I liked how they produced the movie. It is a movie I can watch several times over again.

I really love most of the classic movies like you. I took my son's girlfriend to see the new clash of the titans. Of course she wanted to see the 3D one so I spent the extra money. While I liked the moovie to me the 3D was over rated. Since you lke those types of movies, have you seen Tristan and Isolde? This one was not out in 3D for a modern movie remake I thought this one was well made from the classic.
if you have not seen it, grab some popcorn and have a movie night in. I am sure you will enjoy it too.

Thanks for the info marie2052! I'll be sure to check that out. I haven't seen it or the classic, so it will be fun to see both versions and do my comparison. Thanks again! This was like kid in a candy store info to me!
