How much are dreams related to what we really think?

Okay, so recently I have become quite interested in my dreams and what I think that they mean after I have been remembering my dreams more, and because more of them are, or at least seem, relevant to what I want, or to what I think about.
But my question is how much are dreams related to what we really think? What I mean is, a lot of my recent dreams are either things which make me feel good or happy, but then others are to do with things I want, but are actually sad times involving that person,
so they are not reflective of what I want.
What I mean is, do you think that dreams are reflective of what we want or are thinking, or do you think that they are more random than that, or do you just think that they are to do with things which we are experiencing or thinking about just before we go to sleep and have that dream?

Hello interesting discussion.
I can say that dreams are not random.
I think they are the result of our subconscious.
Night when they sleep, the subconscious is released and give way to these thoughts.
I always do what I think and I am glad it is.
curtain and I love to sleep to dream.
nice day!

I think that that are influenced by our sub-conscience aswell! But I also think that sometimes they seem very random, and so it seems like they can't have anything to do with what I actually think, even in my sub-conscience, even though maybe they do..It's all very confusing, but very interesting also!

Yes they are! According to Psychology, dreams have two meaning: either the manifest content, the literal and the latent content which is hidden or symbolic of the things you've seen in your dreams. Mostly when we are too stressed or too excited, we tend to dream of things that we are supposed to finished or doing things that we wished to experience. Its all about our subconscious mind that usually emerges on dream when we can't perform while we are awake.

We will think a lot about ourselves and about our lover or friends or parents or relatives or the gorgeous girl you see on the streets or our friend's girl friend or actresses or movie you watched or anything which makes you to think for a while. And these thoughts are stored in our sub-conscious memory.Like for an example we want to date with a top actress which would never happen as she don't know us.And if we keep on thinking in depth that will be a priority issue which would may come as a dream to satisfy us and we will.
I used to dream many things or places i don't know even and I will forgot when i awake. But after some years or months I will come across those things which I already dreamt for some time ago.I will realize then i will share with my friends who I am with at that time...its crazy to hear but it happens many times in my life...and still happening to me..not often but I don't know when I will come across the thing I already dreamt since...
Good topic to share, discuss and comment...have a safe drive...!!!

Most Psychologists/Psychiatrists beleive that dreams do have some relevance, however what you see in your dream is probably not the actual message.IT Is believed that whats on your subconscious is symbolised in the dream and what you see in your dream is made up from images from your experience but symbolises whats on your subconscious which is probably something different.

Dream is God's creations, who can ever do this, no one but God! Dreams are emotional reflection of one's subconsious minds. Sometimes if your mind is trying to give insights but is not well expressed in thoughts, it turn out to become a dream when you sleep. Most dreams needs to be analyzed to be interpreted. Here is a sight that can explain you more about dreams. http://www.dreamsnightmares.com/index.html

I believe they are your thoughts and feelings about certain things. Lately I have been having dreams about stuff that we have to do or things I am thinking about. But when I was younger I had strange dreams that I believe were random because they were very odd. I think that when you get older you have more dreams that are related to what you think because you worry more. But when you are young you have no worrys so they are just random.

Sometimes, I think that it can be difficult to determine this. But I do think that there are some dreams that are linked with what we think, how we feel, and such. There are some things that aren't just coincidence, in my opinion. But that's just my gut feeling; this is what my gut feeling is telling me.

Dreams are certainly not "random", however they are not usually related to what we really think, either. Rather, they are a collection of sounds and images or conversations that we might have heard earlier on in the day and they all get mixed up during the night as our brain tries to make sense of everything that it has had to take in. Sometimes dreams can affect our conscious thoughts and they can be enlightening, but usually you should just take them with a pinch of salt and have a good laugh about anything weird and wonderful that might happen in them.

I tend to subscribe to the theory that dreams are merely the mind trying to make sense of random nerve firings in the brain while we sleep. I don't think it's a complete theory but I don't believe that dreams have any sort of subconscious, symbolic, or prophetic meaning.
I've been interested in dreams all my life. My sister and I used to share dreams with each other while brushing our hair just before catching the bus to elementary school. I've kept a dream journal since I was twelve, and I've written in it almost daily. I've had dreams that focused on the things that were on my mind at the time, like school, work, friend drama, family member drama, and the boys I had my eye on. I've also had dreams that had elements totally off the wall and random. Stuff that I never think about (giant spiders, zombies, the end of the world, murder mysteries) coupled with stuff that I haven't thought about in years (old friends from way back when, places I haven't been to in awhile and which didn't really have any special significance to me, etc.) So I would say that dreams are usually random, and they may or may not have anything to do with what's on your mind at the time or what was on your mind right before you went to sleep.
I also don't believe that dreams really reflect wants and desires... (unless I really want a zombie apocalypse to trigger impulse nuclear annihilation of all life on earth and all the survivors to be picked up by aliens. REAL dream I had. And not even one of the more crazy ones) Maybe sometimes dreams will, but only incidentally since they can be as random as they please.
I love dreams... I think they're vastly entertaining and can be an amazing creative outlet. But like I said before, I don't believe dreams have any sort of subconscious, symbolic, or prophetic meaning. I don't think that dream interpretation is valid anymore. If you're interested in dream then I'd really recommend keeping a dream journal for yourself. You might not learn anything new about yourself (I haven't) but you'll learn so much more about dreams.

Dreams are really big things to acquire in life, if we have a strong desire to acheive those dreams then we can surely acquire them but as we dream we should also set short term goal which will meet our dreams future, In my life I have deamed many things but acquiring them really difficult so we should strongly decide to have our goals which will support our dreams in that way we can relatively reach our dreams.
