Why is that most people end up in careers they never imagined while growing up. You ask a teacher or a doctor, they wanted somethings else. Is that that while growing up they were not sure what they want to be or is lack of an option they end up engineers or priests? Does this happen only in developing world alone or is also common in developed countries? Or is it related to ones faith?

The problem lies that we do not know ourselves the things we are good at or not even what we want in life and after maturing we start looking at other careers and feel that this career should have been chosen. I am an ECE engineer but now I want to be a ME engineer.
In developing countries there are less options and less guidance and people fell in a wrong line and are not able to utilize their knowledge completely. This problem is also in developed countries but is somewhat lower than that in developing countries.

hehe same thing for me.. i mean, i was not suppose to be working for a call center job when i first graduated. i was not supposed to be following that career path. and oh i thought it was too far from what i want to become. hehe
of course this happened because i was not very sure of what i want to become. hehe but then i guess now i found what i am able to do good, and that i am happy now with my current job as a business analyst.
