A friend of mine is moving house soon but hates the decor in house she is moving into so she has decided to paint it all white to start with so she has a blank canvas to work on so to speak. She has decided to invite lots of people around for a painting party so everyone helps out to paint the house. I told her that was a great idea provided the alchohol isn't flowing too quickly or else she might end up with the cats getting painted too hahaha. Last year I mentioned to her that I wanted to have a gardening party she got all excited until I told her it wasn't a garden party. Hahahaha
What sort of party would you like to have where everyone helps you out?

Yes, I am used to these kinds of parties. We would have painting parties a lot many years ago. It is a good way to get things done in a short space of time and so I thoroughly approve. My mother also dod all the jibs around the house whilst my father could not hit a nail into a wall. I married a man like my dad so hence the painting parties

actually, I did have a painting party YEARS ago. We only painted one room, and I had all the prep work done before we started, but we got all the walls, the closet and trim done in under 2 hours and then settled back with pizza and soda or something like that - since I'm not a drinker. We had a good time and the room was ready for furniture the next day!

Hi there ElicBxn
Seems like a happy memory for you. My friend has a whole house to do. I reckon that we need to start from the top and work down and when we have finished it will be ready for the next coat and another party hahahaha
Thanks for your response

It was a fun party, even if we worked. But I remember sitting on the ladder cutting the paint in the corners and others painting the walls or trim - it really was fun - I think we had about 8 people, 2 cutting in, 2 rolling walls, 2 painting trim, one in the closet and one painting the shelves from the closet outside, but we did a certain amount of rotating so nobody got tired of their job.

I'd like a house and wardrobe decluttering party and i'd like not to be here whilst it's happening. That way I can't say "but that's my favourite holey sweater etc!". I'll happily provide the booze and sandwiches afterwards - if I have a kitchen left!

Painting party? That's the first time I've ever heard of that. I don't think I will ever allow my friends to paint my house, ha!ha!ha! I mean if ever I would want my house painted, I'd hire a skilled painter to be sure of good results.
If I would throw a party where my friends could help me out, maybe it would be a cooking party. Every one could cook his/her specialty and after which we can all sit down and have a feast altogether.

I would say a moving party would be a lot of fun. Where everyone helps moving and we could provide some finger food and cocktails.
Not only would we get it done faster but everyone would enjoy their time. I guess the neighbors would complain though as the laughter and music would be a bit too loud.

I like the sound of the gardening party, and that is exactly what I'd be doing gardening! Mainly because it gives me so much satisfaction, but I'd rather have the garden WITHOUT the party. I don't do parties and I don't do people. So the party would be just me, myself and I. Ha ha! Not sure about the painting, sounds too much like DIY and that is a big turn off in my books, good idea though but I remember the last time I was let loose with a tin of dulux PMSL...

Aww wolfie what are you like eh? hahaha
Feel free anytime to come round to mine and have your own gardening party for one hahha. I wouldn't say I hate gardening but it's like DIY, I am not very good at it and don't really know what I am doing. I do hate weeding though hahaha
Thanks as always for your response

if I was back in an apartment I would have a cooking party and everyone had to cook a favorite dish then we wou d all get to sit down and share the favorite dishes. wow.each would prepare their own dish then clean up after themselves then all would sit down and share the loot. And all would talk a mile a minute and have a ball doing it.but i am sutck in a retirement center with out anything to cook on or with. lol

Hi ya Hatters
Oh a cooking party sounds great, I really like the idea of that. I would have to make sandwiches though as along with DIY and gardening I am not very good at cooking hahahaha do you think they would notice if I brought in a take away hahaha
Thanks for your response

We are having a housewarming party next weekend, but maybe we should turn it into a gardening party instead We could really use some help with the garden. Another possibility would be a "lets fix the basement" party... we have renovated the walls in the rest of the house and painted all them of, but we didn't do any work in the basement yet. There is lots to do, so it would be easy to find work for everyone
