If I really want to save money, I don't go to a shopping mall. Especially if I dont have money yet. Window shopping makes me sad coz if I want something really bad, I cant sleep, and the next thing I'll do is go back the next day, withdraw money and buy it. Worse case is if you have a credit card. It's like a shopping spree where you get to buy everything and worrying about the bills later. So a big no no. I also do online shopping like in ebay. It's less expensive coz you dont have to pay for the rent in a shopping mall which is added to the product. So if you really wanna save money, stay at home but dont open the internet.

I definitely agree that window shopping is a bad idea. Thanks for responding!

Firstly, I think that it is important that you have the correct bank account. For example, I have an ISA on which I currently earn ~$10 interest per month. I also have a savings account which I probably earn ~$1 per month depending on how much I have placed in there during the course of the month. This can add a couple of pounds to your balance without you even having to think about it. I also only buy store brands in supermarkets, as there is no need to buy expensive brands because they taste exactly the same as the cheaper ones. I use Amazon, Play and eBay, as you can find some amazing bargains on there that you might not have the chance to get hold of if you're just shopping on the high street.

I have started using coupons too. And buying in bulk always saves money. Of course, you can't buy everything in bulk..I try and buy non-perishable products that have a long expiry period such as packed food, sanitary products, shampoos, etc. You might find this video helful. A woman uses coupons to get stuff worth $200 for free! http://socyberty.com/philanthropy/how-to-shop-for-free/

I like shopping at Goodwill and Value Villiage as I can almost always find something to go with whatever I am looking for. Sometimes I only come out with one or two things and others I come out with potentially dozens of outfits. Another plus, I only spent perhaps $50 instead of several hundred for the same material. Sure I would like to have the choice of going to retail stores but for now, these will do until times get better and they will. I'm just glad they are there!

I'm always using coupons or looking for good sales and it's amazing how the savings can add up! If you don't have the coupons you need, try Goodwill or other second-hand stores as it's really astonishing at what people throw out that is still in good condition. Just remind yourself what you already have so you don't get 6 of the same thing (unless it's really needed!). If you fall into this, take a friend and try some different things!
