i've recently noticed that foreign cars are superior to many American cars, like the ferrari and lamborghini vs. the ford mustang. What is the best car to but in today's economy and is it better to buy a foreign car even though it costs American's their jobs?

I think that countries like Japan and China are more advanced than us. Yes they do make some things that are cheap, but their academics and their technology are both a lot more advanced than in America.
I find that foreign cars have nicer features and American brands like Dodge aren't as good. The most reliable cars people buy are toyotas and hondas, both foreign cars.
