Hi MYLOTTERS,
Today i was just watching news in the morning i saw two news:
1. A mother abandoned her new born baby. She left the baby outside someone's house late in night & escaped from there. In morning when a person saw the baby he called the police & they took the baby to hospital as it did not seem to be healthy & was in ICU but is recovering & will be OK till 1 or 2 days. But no has come to say that this is his/her baby. How can some one leave her own baby and if she had to abandoned it then why did she delivered it.What is the fault of baby???
2. Somewhere in KOTA(place in INDIA) a son & his wife went outstation they locked the old lady(mother)in one of the room of their house with some food. She was lying there in that single room since last 3 days.Food that they kept for her was spoiled in those three days as was kept in open.
A person called the police when he came to know it.Police rescued the old lady. But the old lady is so much afraid of the whole situation that she is not speaking a word against her son and her daughter in law.As she knows her son wont spare him if she speaks anything against him.
Seeing both the news i was so upset & thought how the people have become i always used to think mother is someone who always remain by your side even if all become against you but this is contradiction.Again son mother relation is such that no son will do bad for his mother but this is the contradiction.
Please share your views on this??

well this is very very shamefull for all of us as humans.
one human treating another human in this way is simply not done.
in humane is all that i can say.
all news channels covered them in their pain and made a lot of money on their TRP's
every single one is to be blamed for a crime like this.
only way to stop it is to hang people (criminals like these) in the middle of the road in front of the masses.

Hi
pushkarmore (76),
Indeed its a shameful acts but you rightly said media showed these news to just make money from it.
But there are also the chances that has happened in the past also that after seeing the news and her baby the mother returns back to take her baby.

Unfortunately, there are people in this world that don't care about anyone but themselves. As a mother of two myself, the thought alone of leaving my children scares the crap out of me. It turns my stomach upside down, when I hear stories like that. I don't know how people can hurt children that are so defenseless and depend on us for everything. The worst part of this is that everyday it seems that you hear these type of horror stories, I think that is one of the reasons why I avoid listening to the news lately.
How can a mother abandoned their children, their own flesh and blood. It is so sad!!!

Parents normally start bonding with their children, while they are in the mother's belly. Atleast for me as soon as I found out I was pregnant I was very over protective about my baby. During my daughters pregnancy, I had gestitional diabetes, and it was pretty bad, I was on insulin, my sugars were out of control and my blood pressure was elevated. During my 4th month of pregnancy, I got in a horrible car accident, the car flipped and I was unconcious for a good while, the sad part was my son was with me in the car. At the time he was not even two years old. As soon as I woke up, I grabbed my son and held him as tight as I could, I wasn't worried about me. All I did was grab my belly and my son and hoped that they were both okay. When the paramedics finally arrived, my blood sugar was below, normal sugar is between 80 to 90, mine was at 30 that is what made me lose control of the vehicle. Luckily both of them were okay, but for days I cried myself to sleep wondering and pondering in my mind what if. That is the worst feeling ever. My kids are my life, everytime I see or hear news like that my heart hurts, just thinking what those children did to deserve it. They are so defenseless.

Hi fabsprecious,
Truly sad it takes lot of courage to abandon your own child a normal person wont be able to do it. I had the attachment with my kids(twins) when they were in my wife's stomach & we did had a ultra sound test & fist saw glimpses of my kids. From that day my kids are now of 3 years & that attachment is increasing day by day i can't imagine of me without my kids today they are my life.

For the first story, I have two ideas. One , the mom Knew something was wrong with the baby and couldn't face it so she left the baby. Or the mother wasn't a mom. A mom is the definition you were thinking of , a woman who from the moment she finds out she is expecting puts the baby first, would stop a train to protect the baby. But not all women are meant to be mothers. I am not mother material. Anyway, so this mother wasn't able to be a mom so she abandoned the baby. With the second story, it goes to show not every son is a good son. I don't know Why a son would do this to his own mom . But sadly,he thinks he can disrespect his mom like this! I don't know what went wrong or If anything went wrong! We will never know.

But Respect Has to be a two way street. I know there are mothers who don't respect their sons and when the sons get old enough they mistreat them. but in this case I don't know.

In this case also son did not respect his mother.
Yes it should be reciprocal as son should respect his mother & mother should favor her son.Otherwise the things cannot work.
Most of the relation spoils because we are not able to give the same respect as it is giving us. We should understand it to make relations better.

Hi Sara,
I liked your views really she seems to be not a mom had she been mom she would not have left her baby like this or she was not in condition to adopt it then too to leave baby in open is not a solution.
Yes every son is not a good son. There are some sons who disrespect their mother which is disgraceful.

Its very sad to hear the news dear. Many are feeling unsatisfactory that they didn't get motherness in their lives. On the other side some who have chance to become mother and becoming is doing like this (doesn't mean every mother in this world). I don't know why..May be they are getting their babies before marriage or having babies through extra marital affairs etc.
One thing the ones (who get babies illegally) should know that its a life to a creature came through her by carrying 9 months taking all precautions and she should take care in any means....
Good topic although dear..keep rocking..

Hi sweety,
I also feel sad as i have been deprived of mother's love in childhood as i lost my mother when i was just 4 years kid.I know what does mother means in life.
This might be the reason she must have delivered that baby without marriage thats why she left it to its destiny.

hi sjvg both mo ther and son were cruel in these two tales. here in the uS a mother who cannot care for a new born can leave the baby at any police station or hospital or fire station and she will not be prosecuted.
they try to make this known but so many poor young moms get scared and do not know what to do. Also their boyfriends are morons who once knowing the girl is pregnant flee like crazy. Those are upsetting stories and those people who locked that mom in a room oh thats so horrible, they were very evil people to do that

Hi Mrs Hatley,
I also think people have become so much cruel that they don't even spare their closed ones.
Females should take care always & should produce child if they can't adopt it or unable to nourish it.But to leave it on GOD is not just justified.

Who knows what drives mothers to do such things to their children. Gosh, a dog could have killed the baby laying outside someone's house all night.. a wild animal could have eaten the defenseless baby. It takes more than delivering a baby to be a mother, for sure. Anyone can pop out a baby, but not everyone can be a mother. It's better to give the baby away to the police station or hospital for it to at least have a chance at a decent life with an adoptive family.

sivg1976..
yup.. very disturbing. i saw both the news on the television.
its a very sorry state in some parts of the country (and also throughout the world)..
poverty is the main reason for all this.
you see these things happening where there is less money and things dont come easy.
there are odd instances however where u see these things happening in the rich locale.
the point however is, tht there isnt much tht the authorities cud do in this case since there isnt much awareness among pple themselves.
how is it possible that someone leaves a baby on teh road and no bodies sees it..?
how is it possible that a son and his wife lock their mother for years and teh neighbours or relatives dont know whats happening..
its a question of lack of awareness too..!!

Hi maverickden (265),
This is not necessary that neighborer know what is happening in your house i think.
Or someone sees you at night leaving your baby.
Both these cases are possible.
But i agree these things are rare & mostly happens due to poverty.

I don't understand how someone could do such things. I could Never abandon a child I've been growing inside me..
I've heard of that happening here too and usually they are young teenagers that are afraid... They really need to understand that there is help out there and they really need medical assistance after having a baby, so they should seek help... I wish they wouldn't just leave them on somebodys porch, that's not right..
As long as that baby is ok and being cared for that's all that matters now...
The 2nd news story, that is wrong too. Also for the wife to be involved as well..There must be more hidden to that story too... we don't know what happens behind closed doors... some people really do have some serious psychological problems.

Hi pinklilly,
Yes this should not be the thinking a lady keep baby inside her for nine months & in those nine months she starts loving her child so much without seeing her than how can she abandoned her own child?? Still shocking for me.
I would have not mind if son's wife only was involved but its shame that the son was also involved in this case.

Judging the situation,it's hard to justify what situation is lesser evil.
But i can say both are evil in any ways.
The first scenario - what if a dog seen the baby and drag and killed in that instance.
If the mother wants her baby to adopted, she can just asks someone to adopt the baby or give to charity/institution where she can leave the baby safely and not just leaving outside someone else's house in the middle of the night.
okay..good thing the baby is rescued, but still in a bad state of condition.
The second scenario is...i can say, what kind of son it is to leave the mother in that situation.
He is too evil to do that to a mother who had given birth and taken care of him.
Too bad and too sad situations!

She could have asked someone to adopt that child this i think was a better option.
I also read that also some 2 years back some one abandoned her child in drum of garbage nearby park and when someone passing through that park heard noise of a baby he took out it from that drum & found that there were injuries on his body which were due to biting of dogs, insects in that garbage, that baby was there in that drum since whole night this was though more heart touching.
In second situation i blame mother too she should have informed some one before as she would not have encountered this situation.

It's unfortunate that we live in such an evil and selfish society, it bothers me to no end to hear those kinds of stories. I don't think either one is less evil than the other, they're both talking about abuse, and victims in each story did have their lives on the line.
I've witness both in my lifetime, having been raised in foster homes all my life. I was abandoned by my biological mother when I was 5 months old, and to this day she won't have anything to do with me under any circumstances, no matter how hard I tried. I've also witness my husband's father harass his poor mother while she was still in the hospital after her stroke for all the money he could get out of her before social services took her money for her nursing home placement.
*sigh*
People don't have much of a conscience nowadays

Hi Masihi (773,
Its really upsetting to hear attitude of your mother though i am better than you i think because i lost my mother at the age of 4 so i did not get her love in childhood but being alive your mother did not give you love its more upsetting.
Both these cases are the examples to what extent people have gone selfish.

I would prefer someone leave a baby in safe hands then leave outside in a bin. I have heard so many stories about how babies are left in bins as if they were trash and left out in the cold shortly after birth.
I can tell you sjvg, being that the day I was born I was left in the hospital. Though I was raised by many different families in my life, I am grateful someone responsibly made sure I had homes to live in.
Therefore, my thoughts is that it is always best of course to make arrangements and leave children in safe havens as oppose to endangering them in any way.
I personally could never leave a child I bear but can understand when a mother perhaps cannot take care of a child on her own.

Hi HWG,
Yes this should be the decision whatever may be the situation the lady was in. To leave a new born baby in open is like killing him.
Though your story is also heart touching but you might be having the satisfaction that you found people to take care of yourself.
This is also true that sometimes woman get stuck in the situation that they have to take some difficult decisions but this decision is extreme as how can you leave your own flesh in open.

very awful and disappointing. People now really get very tired and weary, and had become more selfish. They think only of themselves and would not care if they hurt other people even if its their own flesh and blood... very terrible news! I am thankful that despite that i came from a broken family, my parents at least tried to show me that they care and love me..

I have been thinking whenever i hear news like that, if some people have conscience still. It seems they have gone demonic and are not afraid of God anymore.
How i wish they could be punished for doing those barbaric things! Imagine doing them to your own blood?

I've been hearing that people can legally drop their babies off at a hospital to abandon them, and while the thought of that is depressing too, it's much better than other options, like just leaving it outside like that.
But hey, cheer up, I mean, yeah those two incidents happened, but that kind of thing is so very rare. Most of the time, people do have strong connections with their parents, and their children. That's not normal!

Yes i know this kind of incidents are very rare but touches deep inside your heart.
But better options may not be chosen by the lady because she may not be married and in INDIA we don't accept those babies easily.Or she may be so poor to nourish baby & may have thought some will adopt the baby & it will get better home.

I've heard of mothers leaving their newborns in various places. I don't think it is a good thing, but I think if a woman delivers a baby that she knows she can't take care of that she should take it to a warm place (perhaps a fire station or police station or a hospital) where it can be taken care of. If she doesn't want anyone to know who she is, she should still take it to where someone is and even if all she does is ring a doorbell and run, at least the presence of the baby is known before it can become ill from exposure to the elements. As far as the son and his wife locking the old lady in the house, that is totally inexcusable! If they don't want to deal with her any more, they should at least take her somewhere she could be tended to so that she could survive well.
